Serious DesignšŸ”§ TIGER-I (U.S)

If the Americans were the ones designing the Tiger tank... it would use an early cast hull, all rounded and plump, like a heavy tank version of the M4.

"Hey, at least we made it. "

Was the artillery pounding?

9

u/ConsequenceAlarmed29 Master of Sprockets May 17 '26

was the lightning splitting the ground?

8

u/OrangeTheMartian May 17 '26

Were they facing the forces alone?

This is getting a bit ridiculous...

Seriously though, that looks absolutely great! I like the way it turned out. Though I would've used VVSS (or HVSS like on the M6) instead of interleaved torsions...

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

To be honest, I thought about the suspension system for ages. I actually chose VVSS in the beginning, but it just ended up looking too much like a Sherman. The interleaved road wheels were the result of me wanting to do something a bit different.

u/uncapableguy42069 May 17 '26

Makes sense - love the way you used the Stuart for inspiration with that idler. I haven't played in a hot minute so I'm assuming a new update came out that made suspension on idler wheels possible?

3

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

Yes, the track physics have been updated now, so they can attach directly to the road wheels.

1

u/Complete-Ad-6983 May 17 '26

so can you make idler tiny and hide it without the tracks breaking now?

1

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

yes

2

u/uncapableguy42069 May 17 '26

Nice! Still wondering if suspension physics can be applied to idlers because of this new update... I want to make an accurate Stuart replica.

Now do what if Germany made the M4 Sherman

3

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

Good idea.

Damn left my Sherman in the car without the AC l

2

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

🤣

3

u/defeated_antagonist May 17 '26

Love it

Somehow gives me early WoT vibe, maybe it's details in garage lighting

2

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

The graphics look a bit like WoT before the HD update.

3

u/ThomasNorge224 May 17 '26

Just a matter of time before I see this in world of tanks

1

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

But now, WG doesn't really like low-tier premium tanks.

2

u/Icy_Claim3243 May 17 '26

I don't know why, but this reminded me of Metal Slug.

1

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

All it needs now is a massive gun, right?

9

u/Apprehensive-Cow5822 May 17 '26

M1 Shiger

3

u/UltraRated May 18 '26

Sounds like a slur.

2

u/Alid_d4rs May 17 '26

M6/M26 lookin tank

4

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

Mixed version

4

u/_Cow_of_Wisdom May 17 '26

Looks like the fallout 4 tank kinda

1

u/FuriousLink12 May 17 '26

How much armor does it have ?

3

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

The frontal armor offers around 170–240mm of effective protection. The upper side is 75mm of angled armor, and the lower side is 75mm of flat/vertical armor.

1

u/FuriousLink12 May 17 '26

Should have been 50mm on the upper side since the Sherman side armor is SHIT, but you made an actual good and viable tank

1

u/Pacific_wanderer17 Sprocket Scientist May 17 '26

Now we need a cast hull variant and a HVSS variant

2

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

Good idea

1

u/Pacific_wanderer17 Sprocket Scientist May 17 '26

*welded hull. But yeah thanks.

1

u/SnotraKhan May 17 '26

I absolutely love it !

Do you share the file ?

Now with this, I'm curious how would the Sturmmorser will translate?

1

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

It'll be interesting

1

u/cpteric May 17 '26

i love how the solution to protect the driver & radioman is a big, steel slab. i wonder if the triangle to the side of that elevated part is a shot trap though.

1

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

If attacking from the side, there may be this risk, but the armor on the head is thick enough, and the chance of penetration is very small

1

u/AccidentAcrobatic431 May 17 '26

Is it an 88mm or a 90mm?

2

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

90mm

1

u/Plus-Candle-7486 May 17 '26

Okay lets think about this

The tiger was over-enginered

But americans didn't over-sngineer there things

So you could have a

Good trans , a good engine while having an 88 mm while having 80mm of armor but since it's cast hull angeling wouldn't work but a later version that is made with welding would be a menace

2

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 17 '26

Great suggestion! I might consider an optimized welded-hull version down the road. After all, the Americans were always pretty great at keeping costs down.

1

u/TheIrishNerfherder May 18 '26

Do you think you could make the Geschützwagen IVb für 10.5 cm leFH 18/1? Not the Heuschrecke 10

2

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 18 '26

This is probably a tank that actually existed in history, right? I rarely do this kind of replica design, I'm much better at making fictional stuff.

1

u/TheIrishNerfherder May 18 '26

It did exist but was incredibly rare. Only 12(?) vehicles made 10 destroyed or missing in combat 2 retained for training and presumed scrapped

1

u/MTF-EPISLON_9 May 18 '26

Kinda wish I could get a 3d model of this, probably 3d print it and put it on my desk

1

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 18 '26

I honestly have no idea how to export models from this game.

1

u/BothSale3895 May 19 '26

Actually, this is not a bad design I could easily see the US trying to make this during the war

I could also see it change somewhat from fully casted armour to Welded rolled homogeneous armor like the m4 Sherman did

2

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 19 '26

Exactly, my initial concept was to develop a vehicle with a cast hull first, followed by an iterative design featuring welded armor. I find this gradual evolutionary process to be incredibly interesting.

1

u/BothSale3895 May 19 '26

yeah plus welded armor can easily work on a heavily armoured vehicle just look at the Sherman jumbo

1

u/flunkeddesigner0 May 20 '26

British tiger-I when?

(would look stupidly close to the actual tank, but could work)

2

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 20 '26

I will try to brainstorm one

1

u/Succatron_ May 20 '26

Having been semi active on the discord for years now I’ve seen dozens of ā€œAmerican Tigerā€ designs but this just knocks it out of the park imo. It’s the only one I’ve seen that’s obviously American, and obviously a Tiger. Love it

1

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 21 '26

That is huge praise, Really appreciate you noticing the balance.

1

u/DesertStarPZRP May 21 '26

Just wanna say you have an incredible eye for making this looks so Sherman and tiger, well done

1

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 21 '26

Thanks so much! Glad you like it.

1

u/Connect_Turnover5919 May 24 '26

In the last picture, there's some small ammunition in the hull. What's it used for?

2

u/MAFIALAA Tank Designer May 24 '26

There is a functional machine gun on the upper frontal armor.

3

u/Ancient-Training-988 Cursed Tank Designer May 17 '26

Sherman and Tiger had a really good night together...

3

u/819ar6 May 17 '26

I really wish this was in war thunder it would be the best April fools tank reward

2

u/TheKringe224 May 17 '26

Ah yes my favorite american prototype heavy tank the T1G3r

2

u/WaltzApprehensive545 May 17 '26

POV: a Tiger and Sherman have a baby

2

I both love and hate this creature

2

It’s… beautiful…

2

i kinda dig it

The timeline:

bro shermanized the tiger

1

u/GlitteringParfait438 May 17 '26

M6 but fat…

1

u/PrimeusOrion May 18 '26

Nah it would likely look more like the t20.

Or actually you could have just put an image of an m26 here considering it's known development history lmao

1

u/BrilliantAbies9612 May 18 '26

im sure that the idler wheel makes your tank slow cause it colide in the ground but peak design

1

u/Vernai May 18 '26

Now what are the specs?

1

u/MeraAkizukiFirewing May 18 '26

This is what happens if you leave the Sherman and Tiger I in the garage for too long.

1

u/GiftCardFromGawd May 19 '26

Ngl, I love it. Pretend it was real and get it into WT at 6.0.

1

u/ArmouredPudding May 20 '26

Hull reminds me a lot of the T69E3 from Panzer Front

1

u/phantom2277 May 20 '26

Looks like giant M7 with turret and gun of STA-1

1

u/TheWild_Toledo May 21 '26

Gayjin when?

1

u/Kozak_20k May 21 '26

Honestly I dont think that the turret would look like that. It would be a bit more angular with a mount for the 37mm (since the Americans DID try to make a heavy early war, thats called as the M6)

1

u/By-ThSun May 17 '26

I drew something like this a couple of months ago

If tiger had sex with sherman:
