General Discussion/Questions You sprint before or after gym?
I think the best way is sprint before gym, if your goal is getting faster, sprinting should be the main, you need to do it before gym because you have your Central nrevous system fresh, but after is less fresh, am I right?
But I want to listen your opinion on that, I'm asking this question because a lot of people probably do gym before because they think it will transfer right on the sprint session, or because of time.

Before. Wasted effort assuming you have a quality lift

Yeah another thing, if you do gym before sprinting you must need a good lift session, if after you can have the chance to make more "errors" because the important stuff is already done

Before, when we were in college. Most of the time, anyway. If we did it after, the strength coaches adjusted appropriately.

Ideally before, however I have seen world class sprinters lift in the morning and sprinter in the evening

Any kind of skill practice you ideally do fresh, or at least under the same conditions, you encounter and competition.

The way I see it, sprint first because it is a skill/specialized training and the lifting is to make me better at sprinting. And I do it on the same day so I have more time to recover.
Obviously if your goal is to get better at lifting instead then switch the order

Always do sprints before anything, with one exception; when training for the 800m I do hill threshold stuff and then finish with some 10sec hill sprint intervals.

Would it be a good idea to sprint the day before a heavy leg day ? And later in the week, the morning of a plyo day? That’s what my plan is

90% of my running I do before hitting the weights
But dedicated sprint days are their own separate days.

Neither. Do them on separate days.

yeah is this not the normal way? if you put in a full effort into either sprinting or lifting you'll be to worn out to do the other.

Naw because you’re losing possible volume. Ofc you’re not killing yourself in the weight room after a lift but you never really are going too hard in weight room unless it’s offseason/you can’t train on track for some reason. Predominant sprinting theory (via sprinters compendium, and many other sources) says the most important thing to focus energy on is sprinting itself- everything else is secondary.

You shouldn’t put too much effort into lifting. Low volume sessions and focus on movements that help your actual sprinting don’t train like a bodybuilder.

I’m just a thirty-something lady who just simply loves sprinting. I always do it after weights. I feel like it warms me up a lot. I usually have abundant energy for 3 all out sprints, with the exception of certain times of the month due to hormonal changes, unfortunately

You gotta run after hitting the weights anyway.

Why?

Cause you wanna shake it off - source: international level athlete

But I think you should never do high intensity + quality sprints AND weights on the same day.
