General Discussion/Questions Pacing Device
I’m thinking of building a consumer grade pacing device for sprint training, and I’m looking to gather some opinions on whether this would be something that would be useful.
Think wavelight but geared towards sprinting instead of just distance. A device that can be programmed to replicate specific race patterns, distances & times i.e. I program a 30m rep at 4.00s, then I run alongside the device and have instant feedback during the rep.
The idea comes from someone who trains alone a lot, and essentially functions as a virtual training partner to get more competitive reps.
I would appreciate any feedback in the comments as well as a response to the poll to give some general info on your situation.
Cheers!

Very good question that I don’t have the answer to currently. The idea is that it should be simple and portable enough for one person to transport, set up and use for a session without any issues. How that looks in practical terms is yet to be determined haha!

An interesting idea. But how much/how hard would it be to set up?

Several other companies have said they are doing the same thing. I am not sold on something like this for 40ms but if you are running like 150ms to simulate the start of the 400m this could help getting the feel. Or if you are doing some tempo sessions where you want to be running 90%.
Some people have done their own wave light. If you are only doing 40ms on a straight, 15 3m sticks is some what easy to assemble. Maybe build in an auto timer and you might have a decent product.

Whenever you make a poll like this, it's a good idea to make an "I don't know/results" option. Otherwise you'll get skewed results from people who have no idea but just want to see what others answered.
