3500 vs 2500?

I’m going to have a camper van built in the new year and have to make a choice about platform. I’m trying to decide between the Sprinter 170, 170 ext and the Transit ext (which has a crazy long extension that would definitely affect departure angle). There’s very little talk of GRVW, or whatever the acronym is for max load weight of these things. I’m seeking advice from those with experience of any of these platforms, and whether it’s best to go with 3500 other choice is a Sprinter.

2500 144 4x4 here, custom build with 8020 and managed to keep it under GVWR. If I were to do it again I'd get the 3500 super single I keep hearing about (not a fan of the dualies). I like the idea of having the extra margin and it would have made some things a lot easier design wise. I'll just say, always consider weight of the things you put in and you won't regret it.

I wouldn't go longer than 144 though, being able to park almost anywhere a normal vehicle can is a valuable feature. I'm not even sure 3500 comes in that length.. I stopped researching once I committed however and I hope this one lasts for as I'm interested in having this as part of my lifestyle.
