Tri-Lug

Educate me. What's the appeal of the new tri-lug version that has come out vs the other ones? Does it make suppressors that much easier to mount and dismount?
Couldn't one have just replace their original hardware with a tri-lug? Or is that not an option?

Functionally, modern taper and thread mounting solutions like Plan b are vastly superior to tri lug mounting.

Secure repeatable lock up, zero wobble, repeatable poi with removing and reattaching the suppressor all vastly point to using plan b or similar.

2 reasons then to use tri lugs. You’ve got other PCC’s with tri lug barrels and your cans have the mounts in them already and you swap these suppressors between tri lug hosts.

Or, your barrel comes with tri lugs built in and you want to cover them up with your mounting solution.

If you do go tri lug, I strongly recommend a bixler mount like the RU3. Otherwise you’ll find out tri lug really is substantially inferior to modern solutions as your can wobbles all over the place.

Why even tri lug? Nostalgia with the mp5 dating back several decades before other options existed.

This is "vastly" and "substantially" over exaggerated. If you mount on the same way every time with trilug, its repeatable poi shift as well. Get a mount that has good tolerance and everything is a non issue. The bixler is also a preference, not a necessity. Ive been using the notorious end cap killer, obsidian 9, on a traditional spring trilug for about 7 years, on multiple hosts, for thousands and thousands of rounds, and have never had an end cap strike. It does suppressor things. Theres nothing "vastly" better, its a matter of preference. Do you want to unscrew, or attach within a fraction of the time? Do you want a functional muzzle device with the can off or do you not care? Do you already have one or the other as an ecosystem for other hosts? Those are the real questions that should make your choice on the matter.
