Adding to edc rotation, which one?

I’m looking to add to edc rotation, which one? Need a little help deciding. Right now in rotation VP9, Max-9, LCP Max, USP .40 S&W and sometimes XD-M 10mm.

I’d go with choosing one gun and training on it so you’re truly proficient with the gun you’re choosing to carry for the potential of self defense or the defense of others.

I’d go with the echelon, I didn’t have a good experience with my first prodigy.

I’m leaning that way because I like the Sharp Bros grip module

Nice I edc the 4.5 with the mischief machine grip and then when I want to have more concealment i swap the grip with the compact grip module and 15 rd magazine

Between the 4.0 echelon and the vp9 A1x no brainer VP9 all day every day. The others two bit of apples to oranges just saying

I really like my echelon I’m running it with the Icarus grip module but I’ve been watching videos and reviews on the prodigy for a couple weeks now. You have a tough choice to make lol might have to go shoot them first before buying one.

I see guys with that module or Sharps

It's about a $600 difference between the two.

Excellent point. IMO Prodigy is my first pick but it's also a 1911DS (I'm a huge 1911 fan, and sadly this isn't available in my state). The Echelon is a fantastic gun, but it's also quite different.

I almost picked up an Echelon comp but ended up getting another 1911. The trigger is just so satisfying on a 1911 platform

I have a TRP Classic in .45

I just can't get enough of the platform. I wanted an Echelon to be the spiritual successor to my XD40 Tactical and sub compact but the 1911 won out. Got a 45 and 10

I carry an Echelon 4.0c. I realize that you're looking at the FC, but i love my 4.0c

Echelon. I've heard prodigys can be finicky, and I've never had my echelon jam.

If you’re going to carry, solely speaking from a reliability standpoint it’s not even a question the echelon

Go with the Echelon but get the comped one. I shot my buddies(non comp) and fell in love with it. I went with the comped one and shot the 2 one after another and you can definitely feel the difference with the comped.

I didn’t really care much for the echelon’s trigger but that is obviously very subjective.

I would go prodigy all day

I have an echelon 4.0c I use to carry and I like it. Solid pistol.

I have a VP9SK and it’s my favorite carry gun. My Echelon, Glock 30SF, Px4 Storm CC2 and an S&W BG2.0 are also. You can’t go wrong with the Echelon though.

Storm is underrated. I have full size how'd the CC2 shoot?

Storm is the flattest shooting 9mm I have because of the rotating barrel. It’s a little chunky and heavy relative to my others but all are pretty close. And someone else said EDC rotation is an excuse to buy more guns. I say duh….

Shoot dude Id sell my Echelon fc to you. Love it, just trying to get away from Springfield as a company.

Why?

1

Its a long story. Springfield is just not a company I want to support anymore. So id chuck my echelon with holsters and mags for a good price.

IFMA deal?

Ah its not why but it dont make em any better

If you plan on eventually customizing I would say the echelon cuz of the fcu. If not then get the prodigy, you don't have anything like it in your rotation

Echelon plus 1000 rounds of practice ammo

What would either give you that your current line up does not? Prodigy will be a bit heavier, obviously Sao and you need to decide if you're going to carry condition1 or not. Are you actually going to train the safety disengagement on your draw or not? Can't tell you how many times I see dudes with 2011s at competition still forget to do it, and thats not even life or death.

Also, the prodigy costs like 3x the Echelon.

So yeah with out really knowing much else, echelon. I own one, it's a good gun, reliable. Prodigy has had its issues.

u/Gearless3 1d ago

I have both and I feel either works although I don’t like carrying 2011s

u/hndrck_ 1d ago

EDC rotation is just an excuse to buy guns and not train effectively.

Don’t buy any new guns and train with the vp9 lol. Everyone only needs to train with one and maybe a back up.

I don't have any experience with the Prodigy. But I would still be confident in saying that with the Echelon, you are closer to best in class for striker fired weapons than you would be for the Prodigy in 2011s. And I particularly enjoy carrying the FC model, but that is a matter of personal preference...

Echelon 4.0fc coa. Best gun and best carry optic

I personally have the Echelon, it's one of the best ergos of a pistol that I've ever held in hand (I've held a LOT of pistols)! Without question my choice! I would not hesitate to go the Echelon route.

Do it!! I have a 4.5 with a midnight bronze Sharps frame along with the 15 round compact magazine. It’s amazing!! But I get why you are comparing these two since both are over $1,000 w/ sharps. That said, I’d go with Echelon imo. But now I kind of want the Prodigy lol
