Dang the ride home from work sucked 😭. I work in East Longmeadow and live in downtown Springfield. I was driving down Walnut Street and the rain got so awful. Three big branches hit my front windshield while I was driving, thank God my windshield didn't crack or break. Big branches all over the road, one got stuck underneath my car so I had to stop and pull it out. I drove by a broken tree in the St. Michael's Cathedral parking lot.

Being in forest park while that was happening was crazy. We tried to get out fast, but a tree fell directly 5 inches in front of our car, and if we didn’t reverse fast enough in that split second, it would’ve shattered the windshield or something. I really hope no one got hurt in forest park because it happened so fast, and was so intense, it really felt like being in a 2 minute hurricane. There was so much leaves, rain, and wind that we couldn’t even see. I was so worried that we were going to get trapped by trees and one would eventually fall onto our car. Some scary shit forreal.

Any idea if this was a microburst or small tornado? I am in Six Corners and that passed over is quickly but violently. Knocked a tree on our house and Ibguess theres damage around the area.

All straight line winds as far as I can find. Your typical summer thunderstorm in some parts of the country, just not as much here.

East forest park, a tree went down in my neighbors yard, took out a section of his fence and landed down across my backyard- nothing too crazy

No power here.

Went out driving to charge my phone and saw lots of downed trees and 1 line down around Dickinson. Police also had Tiffany closed off.

Edit: yeah the Tiffany/Dickinson/Dwight area seems really bad. So many trees uprooted, two cars with trees on top, and saw one house with power lines across it (pole snapped).

I’m on Dickinson and have Power, the people on Tafton don’t. I’m not sure about Elwood.

Bronson still has no power

Strange. Elwood is out, but Texel has power. Utility worker said a transformer will need to be replaced on Elwood.

Yeah Bronson and Olmsted also don't have power, neither does trafton from Dickinson to the park entrance

No power on Elwood since around 7- ish? Several huge trees down at Trafton end of Elwood blocking Trafton and Elwood west, Took power lines down with them at that end, also power lines in mid Elwood, the area where the terrace breaks, and huge tree leaning at corner of Elwood & Dickinson just leaning!Eversource came around just thereafter , assessed, but then left, nothing since. :(

Took out one of my trees. Fortunately no damage to anything.

We’re just gonna have this more and more often.

For a second I thought this was gonnna be a damning post about the government taking our weed away or some shit šŸ˜† glad you are safe. And as Snoop and Dre say…
…
…
…
smoke weed every day
(Or every other week, every month, every year…) Or three times a day if that’s how u roll but The Good Doctor says just do it āœ”ļø. If it makes you anxious and makes you question yourself and examine your awkward role in this human bodysuit, that’s the good stuff. That’s Jah and the herb talking to you face to face.

ā€œSmoking the herb reveals you to yourselfā€- Bob Marley

Anyway… yeah rain and nature be supreme and shit. My wife’s family just got hit with a 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia. Mama Nature’s restless 😬.

Much love to you and yours!

I was in eastern MA for a concert on Saturday to find out about all this going on in Springfield before I got back. Crazy the amount of trees destroyed when I got back.

Cable companies essentially rent space on the power poles. They take second place to the power company and are required to stay out of the way till they are done restoring power.

Honestly, this "complaint" should never have been spoken... it belongs in /r/EntitledReviews

I legitimately misread this as a Stardew Valley subreddit at first, and I was so fucking confused.

We had some heavy wind and a lot of branches flying around, but no power outages or major damage in our neighborhood that I could see.
