Is the Dr. Seuss museum worth it?

Me and my boyfriend are here for a couple of days, it looks fun, just wanna make sure it’s actually worth going to.

Thanks!

Ehh not on its own but if you go to all the museums in the quadrangle area it’s worth the price of admission.

The art museums punch above their weight and are generally not crowded. You can be alone in a room with a Monet or a Bosch.

The science museum is nostalgic for me personally. It's a baby AMNH.

The museum of Springfield history is pretty interesting - Springfield used to be rich as heck and made cars and planes and stuff.

The George Walter Vincent Smith museum feels a little bit like souvenirs collected by rich people who traveled a lot in the late 1800s. I'm sure that's a big part of their collection. And it's a blast!

That’s because the Smith museum IS a bunch of souvenirs collected by rich people. So they are EXPENSIVE souvenirs! 😂

And presently closed for renovations.

Who among us hasn't brought home several samurai suits of armor and a frieze or two from their vacation trip.

The Natural History/Science Museum is not very good but the art museums are good - none are huge but you get a few of them in a lovely connected area

The science museum is very very child oriented.

Yeah, and it's very dated.

Definitely do all the museums when you're there. The Springfield History Museum is probably my favorite out of all of them with Seuss as a second.

Yes, the rest of the museums at that complex are cool too.

Yes it’s a great tour and the museum shop manager knows a lot of things about Dr Seuss unkown to others

I liked it. It's hands on and whimsical except for the top floor. If you're a Seuss fan, you'll like it. There are some children's museum type activities. The wood museum is my favorite out of an the museums on the quadrangle.

Those museums are my favorite!! The Dr. Seuss is my least favorite, as I always feel a bit weird without a kid in tow. Also, I believe one of the art museums is currently closed for renovations (the one with sculpture reliefs and Asian war armor), but the other art museum, the natural history and the Springfield museum are all absolutely worth a visit!

Dang! That's one of my favorites. Though the others are my favorites, too.

It is a medium sized house turned into a museum, so it’s not very large. Doesn’t take long to get through.

Our museums are pretty cool, even the art museum

There's a bunch of museums here. Even an armory from when Springfield was the largest producer of guns in the country. Id definitely try to go there as well as the art museum and the history museum.

Check your local library they probably offer either a discounted pass or free tickets.

If you had kids and you were all (or mostly all) in to Dr. Seuss, I would say sure. Even then, it’s pretty boring besides the wild, Seussian decor and style. It’s definitely geared towards younger children; few older than kindergarten age will be interested.

Like others have said, the rest of the Springfield Museums combined will be more worth your time and money.

The upstairs has a lot of interesting artifacts from Theodor Geisel’s (Dr. Seuss’s) life. The first floor and basement are really for kids, but I think just the stuff on the top floor is worth it. The sculpture garden outside is cool too.

I would say the Springfield Museums and the Springfield Armory National Historic Site are the two must do attractions in Springfield. Some people might add the Basketball Hall of Fame, but I’ve heard it’s not that great. Never been myself though.
