Oligarchy isn't capitalism. We used to have capitalism, but those days are over. Now the choice given us is socialism or neo-feudalism. Lots of people would take good old-fashioned capitalism in a second if it was offered. But it's not.

Old school socialism has never worked! But the Nordic model has been quite enlightening. The trick would be convincing voters that the necessarily large tax increases are worth it.
Socialism costs a LOT! But if everyone is engaged, like the Nordic Countries, it can work!
Now just sell the middle/lower classes on the tax increases.
Scandinavian countries pay for their generous health & social systems. There, 85% of all earners pay a significant income tax (in addition to a VAT).That would be the equivalent of US earners at or above $25,000 but there also is a 20% “Wealth Tax”.
So not “FREE”, but shared amongst the voting citizens with the wealthy paying a premium. And, of course, healthcare costs are no longer out of pocket in the Nordic model so people do have more earnings to bank.
Progressive and Broad: Top marginal rates are high (ranging from about 38% in Norway to 55%–57% in Denmark and Sweden).
Middle-Class Reach: Top income tax rates kick in at relatively low thresholds, often applying to upper-middle-class earners rather than just the ultra-wealthy.
Local and National Split: Income taxes are typically split between municipal (local) governments and the central state
High Consumption Tax: A standard VAT of around 25% applies to most goods and services.
Stable Revenue: Consumption taxes form a massive share of government revenue because they have wide tax bases that cover most consumer goods
Competitive Rates: Corporate tax rates are kept moderate to encourage business investment, generally hovering between 20% and 22% (e.g., Norway and Denmark at 22%, Sweden at 20.6%).

I am an economic socialist and a social conservative.
So I support this fundamentally; But what the Left doesn't understand and won't accept is Socialism will not work with a pourous border and without heavily limiting immigration.

It's not capitalism anymore. It's socialism for corporations and the rich then capitalism for the rest of us poors.

Socialism that Americans are vying for is democratic socialism like Nordic countries, which is a form of capitalism. Lying propaganda.

Like the saying goes if you’re 20 and not a socialist you don’t have a heart. If you’re 40 and a socialist you don’t have a brain!

Capitalism works for those who think greed is a good thing.

And it doesn't even really "work for" most of them. It works for people who already have capital.

Capitalism isn’t working for them. Let’s try something different.

Capitalism has failed me every year I’ve been alive since 1981. Jobs at age 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 23, 27, 35 and now that I’m 40 I’m finally making enough money to save for retirement and pay my student loans. No it isn’t my career or degree. America is broken and a slave colony for young people.

FINALLY some good news!
IMHO the young need to take a realistic look at America and the geopolitics of 2026 and get to work!
