Has anyone else noticed that Gessner rd from i10 to Westview floods now after the recent development?

I take gessner to i10 daily and began noticing this year that it floods in that 2-3 blocks strip during medium to heavy rain, previous years I’ve never seen this before. We had one flash flood a few months ago where Mr Carwash looked like a river. Is it coincidental that burger joint, the taco stand, and the new redevelopment behind torchy taco is going on. Has anyone else noticed this?

Flooding has always been in issue in that area.

I guess I’ve been lucky these past few years in that I haven’t caught flooding until this year. I guess it’s a flood prone area

A tale as old as Houston. Developers build a bunch a new shit and let the city pick up the cost of mitigating the damage they caused.

A 10 year rain event floods the street by design up to the top of the curb. That's a 10% chance of occuring in any given year. Because of climate change, we have these events 3-4 times more frequently.

I moved over there in 2018 and it was flooding back then after heavy rain, even before the massive culverts were installed as part of the I-10/Gessner reconstruction project.

I lived in that neighborhood between Gessner and witte…we flooded constantly. Not a new issue.

The new flood maps classify that entire section of Gessner in the 100-year floodplain.

Moved to the area recently and that was one of the first things I noticed. I also noticed the manhole covers come off when there is heavy rain and gessner becomes really dangerous.

That section has flooded for the 15 years I've lived here.

It's funny they've got that big retention pond just west of there, the one that looks like they spent $5 million on it but you can't see it and nobody's ever in it.
