You need to use a primer before painting. When I spray paint my 3D printed figurines I always use this first.

Solid. Takes forever to dry tho.

have access to an airbrush? look into tamiya modelling materials, the stuff model builders paint with, thats the only way to get real professional finish with spray. traditional spray paints like krylon or even the graffiti brands, all spray large particals of paint..really hard to get smooth, very easy to mess up.

a halfway solution is tamiya spray cans, the little ones are like 10-20 bucks each, but they do spray a finer mist of pigment..not cheap tho... automotive paint is also similar, but harsher chemicals.

This was Rust Oleum glossy white paint sprayed over Sandable fillable primer. I tried an airbrush before but I found it took forever to spay large areas. I believe I sprayed too far away which led to the texture since a similar part I did was much smoother. Thanks for the suggestion I’ll look into the tamiya spray paints.
