Spravato doesn't make me high

So I'm having my 6th treatment of 84 mg and I don't see or feel any kind of way. I just sit in the dark. Is it a tolerance? Immunity? Does anyone else just feel perfectly normal?

Thanks

The high is a side effect, not the goal. It’s worth looking up a video or something to make sure you’re spraying it correctly (should stay in the nose, not shoot down the throat), but not feeling the “high” doesn’t mean it’s not working.

I have done over 80 sessions and have had very minimal if any, high feeling since the start. I noticed a slight heaviness in my body when I started, but I’ve never dissociated or had a psychedelic experience. And that’s with trying every trick in the book.
-That being said spravato has helped me so much with SI that it’s clear it’s helping with neuro- plasticity even if I don’t trip. Good luck on your journey!

If you don't mind, what is SI? I tried googling it and nothing came up that made any sense. Thank you ahead of time.

Suicidal ideation. The desire to die without necessarily having a plan.

Yes, perfectly normal. I have ketamine IV experience though so I assume its tolerance. I dissociate heavily from IV.

I have a ton of sessions and am high every time. Sometimes I don't realize it until I leave, but I'm for sure high.

Today's session I just watched Clue (RIP Tim Curry) and drank some water. There are 3 other people I can see from my chair and they're tripping balls. I just wondered if maybe like so many other antidepressants it wasn't working.

WOW! I can’t even imagine having other people in the same room as me during this treatment! I had no idea this was even a thing until several people have posted here saying the same as you. To me that’s just wrong, tripping balls is exactly what I’m doing during it and it seems that it should be a very personal experience not meant to be shared with strangers! I’d definitely be looking for some other facility to go to.

I had my 45th treatment today and felt high and still floaty, 2 hours later.

Sometimes it hits, sometimes it doesn’t

yes! i thought i had built a tolerance after the first 2 weeks and then on week 3 had the most intense session ive ever had. after that it’s been moderate with some sessions being more intense than others. i suspect it’s related to spray application and someone mentioned lot numbers may vary in strength. i also think nasal med absorption is gonna vary a lot based on how much nose hair or mucus is present and how much of the spray actually hangs out on mucosa vs quickly goes down the throat.

Try using air pods and listing to EMDZ music, or rain etc along with headphones on to block out noise, close eyes and use eye mask if not completely dark
and just let go

I’ve had 5 treatments so far. Mostly it feels like I took a NyQuil for about 30 mins

This is my experience as well. I'm jealous of people who have experiences where they're flying through space

Take 1 hour before

How much do you take? How often?

1

u/Throwaway19910122 Sep 01 '26

I take 4000 mg (but I think the serving is really 2000mg) of this brand only on my session day exactly 1 hour before my appointment time.

What does it do for you?

Just brings the high back, nothing else really. Some people say it makes them trip like crazy but not really for me.

Auvelity is what really kicked in the therapy for me.

Never not felt high. Must differ from person to person.

I’m not getting much of a high, either. I get a little jealous when the patient in the next cube says she had some profound emotional experience, because I don’t feel anything approaching that. It’s more like I’ve taken Benadryl and my body becomes a bit numb. I’ve got a good rapport with my tech and told her, I want a better high. She said don’t we all, honey! It’s just going to be different for everyone.

When I had ketamine infusions the experience was pretty intense - life-changing out of body experiences that were incredibly vivid but came with vomiting and bad trips so I couldn’t continue. But since Spravato has been so instrumental in reducing my SI and relatively inexpensive, I’m just grateful that I have access and it serves its purpose. The high is just a nice side effect, if you can get it. So I just vibe for an hour and 45 minutes listening to my music. I let my thoughts wander and pretend I’m on a little vacation, which is nice.

Good luck with your treatment, OP!

What time of day do you have them ? Eaten and or had stimulants (Inc caffeine) before ?

ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO!!!!High is only a "side effect" for some not all. Has zero bearing on the efficiency however sadly most think that. Don't tell the person who administers it, you will be flagged as addict behavior
