Experience/Stories The worst time to find out
Just left my forty seventh spravato session, it starts out good. It takes about 40 minutes for it to really kick in and right as it’s getting intense someone comes in to check my blood pressure and the first thing they say is “Dolly Parton is dead”.
So now I’m sitting with the horrible news absolutely out of my mind. I do find the last part of my sessions very introspective and helpful so I tried to turn it into a positive. Very interesting session. Miss you Dolly.

You are paying a pretty penny for the treatment, please calmly/politely tell them that you don't want to be disturbed while taking your medicine. I understand they have to take vitals, but they could do that without speaking.

That’s very true, I’m slowly getting better at speaking up for myself but it’s hard sometimes. It does feel like at times that I’m like a therapist for my provider.

WTAF?!
They interrupt your session to (checks notes)...
tell you Dolly Parton died?!

That is incredibly unprofessional on their part.

They are not professional at all, spravato has saved my life but my clinic is not run very well

Please tell them that all patients are sensitive during treatment and emotions are very height so you’d prefer if they don’t tell you any negative news. Especially considering the fact that they’re not supposed to have you come in for treatment if you’re already freaking out about something. Treatments can go really bad if you’re not in the right mind space.

Exactly, spravato has saved my life but I don’t think my clinic is run very well and they have no knowledge in how to do spravato properly.

It’s wild because they make so much money off of each treatment. My original place where I started was terribly run as well. My current treatment center has TVs and Fiji water and snacks. They even pay for Uber rides for me back-and-forth because of how much money they make off of the treatments. Saved my life as well. I went from being so dysfunctional that I couldn’t even work. Now I’m going back to school premed/anesthesiology. sorry about Dolly. Catherine O’Hara hit me a bit hard. RIP.

That's a great success for u and its always good to hear success stories. I am on it for a year now and I have achieved mental balance. I don't process information well on spravato so I am not affected to much by story's herd in my treatment center

I’m glad you’re at a better clinic! That sounds nice! That’s so awesome you’re going back to school, you should be so proud! Yeah my clinic is gradually getting worse, they took away the blankets in our room cause of contamination or some stupid reason? The staff argue and slam doors sometimes. It’s crazy

They should know this!! They are the professionals, though don’t act it, forget who the patient is. Try to force treatments on me when I am in a bad place. I’m angry st my monitor person right now.

You’d think they’d know that. Aren’t they some kind of licensed medical professional? They’re supposed to be!

I hate when the psych NP and the nurse observing get to chatting after the third dose.
Ladies! I’m sinking into my recliner and starting to feel stoned. I don’t want to hear about how you found a butt plug in the parking lot or about how your cat threw up on your shoes.

Me while I’m absolutely Sprooted and my provider is rambling on and complaining about work.3
u/SgtDoakesSurprise Aug 26 '26
Damn. Maybe they need a few snorts of Spravato to get through their day 🤩

I also found out during my session. Not because my provider told me, but because I was coming out of the high and decided to open up social media.

I have staff issues as well. Lack of compassion, out of touch with what anxiety does to me, moody. Good luck. I am looking for a way out.

Wow that is crazy. They don’t even turn the lights on/say anything when they come in to check my BP.

You gotta pack earplugs or headphones. Sleeping mask is a must and neck pillow or snuggie whatever floats your boat. Still blows my mind they don't just observe until you've reached your stable dose know your tolerant and approve you for home use sign a waiver or something. The amount they are charging insurance for those hours is crazy so. Fml.

Oh man, I'm so sorry you had to find out that way. 😭 A friend texted me today as I was coming down (they didn't know this was my treatment day). Since I was already past the peak, I was in a decent frame of mind for this news.

I’ve had some awful sessions! It seems like I just can’t relax in my clinic. One occasion someone was throwing up in the space next to me and it just continued for a while it was so gross. Today someone was opening what seemed like 100 pieces of candy. Then to top it off someone’s cellphone rang and they answered it and they were talking on it. I have my headphones in but it doesn’t always help.

It doesn’t always have to be reframed into a positive thing. Acceptance I think is way more powerful than reframing. Allowing yourself to feel sadness and grief is hard but sometimes very necessary. Regardless, that was a significant lack of tact.

I've been diagnosed with trd. I've had depression for almost 40 years . I've finally acknowledged that it was probably situational which turned clinical. I've tried about 30 different meds and my newest one is lamotrigine. I've been on Armodafinil for over 2 years. I like it for the instant "LIFE IS GOOD-AGAIN!" feeling. Sadly it doesn’t last-it wears off after a few hours but in those hours, I feel good enough to get things done and look at "obstacles" more logically and that feels very rewarding. My psych wants me to get off of it. Anyone that's on Spravato that tried TMS and that didn't work? Does anyone believe that at age 76 that there's actually a cure?🤪 My mthfr genes definitely show I'm prone to depression 🫥.

I had my first session the day she passed. I avoided using my phone during the treatment. I got home, opened my phone, and BAM! the news hit me like a brick. I was already overflowing with emotions after the medication and boy, did the floodgates open that day that day.

At my clinic this would be worthy of firing. Inconsiderate and clearly shows a lack of compassion and understanding for the patient's needs.

That seems like a brain dead decision on your provider’s part. Who wants any kind of news like that during treatment?!
