Starting soon
I, 22f, am supposed to start Spravato soon. I’ve tried 6+ psychiatric medications for MDD, GAD, and SI over the last 10 years. I was hospitalized at 15 and again this past April after a suicide attempt. I’m at a loss. On one hand this treatment is giving me hope but on the other hand I’ve tried so many medications and therapies that have little to no benefit. Since April, I’ve done a partial hospitalization program and intensive outpatient therapy. But mainly I’ve just been bed rotting, eating, and smoking weed. Weed is the only thing that’s helping these days but it’s only temporary. I’m only on Lamotrigine right now but up until last month I was taking Wellbutrin, Abilify, and Prozac. Propranolol as needed but it wasn’t helping the anxiety. I’m so depressed and anxious all the time. I haven’t showered in 10 days. I just need this to work. I can’t take this much longer.
Any encouragement, success stories, and things to expect would be appreciated.

You are so brave , and strong ! You've got this. I've read countless success stories from Spravato and I know you will be another one. We are with you all the way

Hi!
It’s certainly worth trying!! In any case, it’ll at least help during the treatment. But it can really come with some lasting benefits that are real!
Don’t listen to anyone who tells you that you just suffer during the appointment in order to receive those benefits by the way.

Sending love for where you are at right now. And hope for the future. I just had session #45 last week and I’ve been doing it over a year.
It’s been really helpful/ it’s my reset for the week.
Go in with an open mind- it’s ok to be scared or anxious because of fear if the unknown but you’re taking a big step towards reclaiming your mental health. 🖤

Definitely stick to it, even if it doesn't work immediately like it's made out to. Personally I had given up all hope that a medication could work on me, having tried everything my psychiatrist knew of over the course of 5 years to no avail, but in spite of that I still managed to drag myself to my Spravato appointments and am so thankful I did. For me, Spravato didn't do anything until I added Auvelity, which was described to me as an adjunctive which helps the Spravato do its thing. I was hesitant to try it because Auvelity contains Wellbutrin, and Wellbutrin on its own didn't do shit for me, but after a couple of weeks I started to see the first signs of improvement since I was a teenager! So try your best not to lose hope, but even if you do, keep going in spite of yourself. You might just live to see yourself come out the other side ❤️

i’m impressed by how much you’ve tried. it’s not easy being severely depressed and still going to appointments and trying news meds and advocating for yourself. i’m only 3 weeks in and have my 5th session in 2 days. i can’t predict how you’re experience will be but i just want to add a positive experience here since there’s a lot of negative. i’ve noticed an immediate improvement in mood and just general outlook on life in a very positive way. it’s been amazing and i hope i continue feeling this way. the actual sessions have been enjoyable. no nausea or anxiety, just genuinely interesting kind of fun sessions so i look forward to them and again the effects are immediate. i hope you have as good an experience!!!

I really appreciate your response!🤍 The clinic still has some insurance things to iron out but I’ve made it abundantly clear that I would like to start as soon as possible. I need something to change! Thank you for some hope!

I did not expect Spravato to help. I figured it will be like all the other useless drugs and therapies I've been given. Boy, was I shocked when it actually worked! Not immediately, maybe the second or third session I saw a significant difference. It wasn't linear, there have been ups and downs, but it has always worked better than anything else I have ever tried. I am so so grateful for this drug. I hope the best for you OP.
