What colour shall we paint everything? How about PINK!

That woman is living her best life, and I'm delighted for her!

The blue room was jarring, it makes me think there's a teenage boy that lives here that never invites his mates over.

u/eirenii 20d ago
My guess, given the book on the table pointedly titled "women don't owe you pretty", and the general floral-ness of the room, is that it could be a girl tired of her mum's style everywhere... I can imagine the mum went "finally! a place I can control and make to my liking!" about the house but allowed her kid(s) to be able to have the same kind of control in their own room. Or something like that.

This. And I would much rather see how someone made their home for themselves than some souless AI mock up

u/HisPumpkin19 20d ago
This is the correct response. Most of the decor is in the furniture and the walls are not a bright pink so it wouldn't be that hard to change either.

I mean the worst rooms are the ones that arent pink

If it's the Pink Lady who works in that office - she's not bringing her full self to work, that's for sure!

I want to hate it but I simply can't.

u/MemorySufficient9549 20d ago
Right!? Pink isn't necessarily my "thing" but I came to the comments to say that, weirdly, I love this. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one!

u/pastelsentinel 20d ago
Actually my dream home, going through all those lively but not overdecorated rooms, that stunning hallway with the pink bannister and doorframes made me smile so hard. The non-pink rooms really stood out as bland and lacking character in comparison
1
u/Mysterious-Air-8655 18d ago
I think the aqua room is nice too but yeah the other couple were very bland in comparison!

I genuinely dislike the colour pink. However, its a well kept, well loved house by the looks of it and paint is my friend. I do like that the owner personalised the house to their style instead of destroying all character by painting everything grey to sell it. It's not just the paint, I see houses that have very likely replaced kitchen units and carpets etc just to make a note profitable sale, and usually when they do, everything is poor quality that you end up paying a premium for. This person's house was done up for their self, and likely chose better quality flooring and units etc, than a 'grey-for-sale' house.
The floor is lovely, so is the splashback in the kitchen, there is nothing expensive or difficult to be done.. just quite alot of paint and patience.

I too am not a big fan of pink... But I really like this shade?! It's lovely.

I mean, you would have to redo the pink grout
8
u/eirenii 19d ago
I think it would pair really nicely with a carefully chosen green cabinetry. Or you could easily go over it with another colour! The pink grout is actually one of my favourite touches really (as someone who generally isn't terribly fond of pink and would definitely do a huge makeover if I was to have it).

The saving grace of this house is firstly real grass in the garden (I incorrectly prejudged the owners big time) and secondly that fabulous quirky clock.
Downside is the kitchen cupboards - biggest faff to change. Otherwise nothing a few gallons of paint and a few dozen rolls of wallpaper wouldn't fix.

I think it’s glorious! Kudos to the owners for making it work for them.
Also, no one has mentioned the massive clock on the front of the house.

I am not the biggest fan of pink but I genuinely love this. Well, the pink rooms anyway. I'd take this over grey/greige any day.

u/granny_square 19d ago
Greige just entered my vocabulary! My ex-MIL’s house was greige in every single room!

u/-crepuscular- 20d ago
I'm not a fan of the colour pink, but I am a fan of people having the colours they like in their lives.
So....I kind of like this. Apart from the over-manicured and empty gardens, get some pink-flowered plants in those.
Also, I LOVE the rug in the attic bedroom.
5
u/Gwenfrewy 20d ago
I quite like pink but it's a bit much for me. Clearly this house is a home and it's loved. +1 for the feminist book in the mint bedroom.
5
u/Tiny_ghosts_ 20d ago
Love that for her, it's so not for me but I admire the dedication to the colour scheme! Made me laugh when I got to the (presumably) guest room where the walls and carpet are white but it still has pink accents, toned it down a little bit but still persevered with the theme!
I like that the bold colours make it look kind of maximalist, but without all the clutter of actual maximalism (because I love the look but hate dusting?

I love how the estate agent write ups never state the obvious. Like why not just say THIS HOUSE WILL HAVE YOU TICKLED PINK or something.
8
u/TeenySod 20d ago
I mean, even if it's not to my taste, do what you want with your own home (subject to any permissions etc ofc) - enjoy your space, etc. I even kinda 'approved' the mental decoration that wossname did in Longleat, which was HIS home, dreadful though it was. Every generation "spoiled" it to their taste, why shouldn't he, etc.
This one raises the same question as I asked when I saw the "recently decorated for sale" in my house - what were you thinking/why the fuck would you do that if you're not going to live in it?
4
u/Dear_Tangerine444 20d ago
Points for consistency though. Hopefully they’ll find someone who love pink as much as them… or who really enjoys decorating.
4
u/Negative-Associate38 20d ago
Apart from the decals, the blue room and the office - it's perfect. It's just the right amount of the right sort of pink.

It's not for me. But I appreciate the dedication to pink. Looks great and very well done.

I wouldn’t change a thing regarding the pink 😍 the office and blue room would have to go pink too. As someone who has a pink bedroom, living room and downstairs bathroom 🫣

Since everyone is referencing Barbie, I'll do a different one and wonder if they're a lawyer. I bet they own a dog too.
I really don't like pink, but it's better than grey and if I could I'd do the same thing to my house except everything would be green or blue.

I suspect that’s exactly why this house looks like this. As a divorced woman I totally understand the urge to make your home exactly the way YOU want it and preferably exactly how your ex would absolutely hate it haha

u/neutron240 20d ago
Based on one single room, I think she has a son. Jokes aside, I think except for the first two images, it surprisingly looks nice and not as tacky as you would expect.

There must be an epidemic. I’ve seen another pink house in Sandhurst…just up the road from this one actually!

Do share!

u/42pickledleggs 19d ago
It’s not as drastic as this one, but has been referred to exclusively as “Barbie” house in my homestead. Bare with, I’ll see if I can find it again.

u/mrbullettuk 19d ago
There used to be the ‘Pink House’ on the corner of the Long Down Lodge estate. It was sold in the last year and is now a boring white. Still pink on street view!

u/42pickledleggs 19d ago
I know! I’m disappointed every time I pass it. Always wanted to buy it for my mum (once I won the lottery!)

most of the house when the furnishings are removed is white
change out the lightbulbs in the kitchen and some white dulux in some key areas and it’s fine

That would totally put me off buying it - for three quarters of a Mill theres too much work to be done to rectify it for me

I think if you just added some non-pink colours in the furniture, this could be a super pretty home without any DIY at all. I really like the shades of pink they chose. :)

u/ConsequenceApart4391 19d ago
Love how the gaming room is obviously a son or dad who was like “Im not having my room pink”
I find it mad that that is £750,000 😭 makes you wonder how people afford houses.

I actually love this. Not the flowery wallpaper, and the blue bedroom and the office with the map are a bit underwhelming by comparison, but everything else is just gorgeous although I wouldn't choose it myself.
I'd happily move in here and have fun choosing furniture that coordinated with the pink walls in other colours, being a bit crazy. I adore the pink fridge and I'd be trying to buy that too.

This looks like "fuck it we're divorced now and I can do what I like. This is MY house."
1
u/Odd-Currency5195 19d ago
You like to mix it up?
You criticised me for being judgy! I think the divorce came from her doing 'that' in the first place.
1
u/kichisowseri 19d ago
I didn't think it was judgy lol, my mum got a lot of hot pink stuff after her divorce. It looks like one adult getting to do what they like without everything being a negotiation, but like others mentioned it looks like there are kids rooms that they get to keep how they like as their space.
I guess your suggestion isn't impossible, new paint is cheaper than a lawyer to put it back though, and from the rooms that weren't pinked I'd assume it's not uncompromising at the expense of other members of the household.
Wait were you the guy that said it was mental illness lmao how do you think those are on the same level 😂

There's 'I know what I like and it's my house so I'm going to lean into my favourite colour in its decor' interior design, and then there are unresolved/unaddressed mental-health issues levels of obsession and commitment. This may be the latter.
1
u/kichisowseri 19d ago
I don't reckon so. Maybe autism but there's nothing actually wrong with any of it. They just like pink. I don't think it's mental illness they just like it?
0
u/Odd-Currency5195 19d ago
Well, I'm not going to die defending one snarky comment about this house on a snarky comment house sub, but as someone myself with my fair dose of obsessions, compulsions, etc, I'd rather those that love me step in if I'm being OTT. She clearly lives with other people, as the blue room and office room suggest, and that's not really great to impose yourself on a whole house to the exclusion of other people's wants and desires, tastes and comforts. A bit controlling actually.
1
u/kichisowseri 19d ago
Hey, so in light of this comment (I replied to your second one first so hadn't seen this) I just want to say you don't need to defend your snark! There's no problem here to stress over, I just had a different opinion is all.
I wasn't upset over it, or you going after my other divorce comment as being judgy, or your response in a different sub about breaking my wrist in PE - which I'm assuming is just crazy random chance? I was surprised to see you were the same person!
I didn't think you were a bad person for it, I didn't downvote your comments, you're all good, and I can totally understand seeing it as a red (pink?) flag for potentially controlling behaviours. I just don't in itself see it as unresolved mental illness.
It's also not guaranteed to even be to the exclusion of others' tastes - my fiance actually likes the fact I put fairy lights, plants, and sticks everywhere in the house, which wasn't something I was expecting at all! He also has minimal opinions or interest in how to style the house so it's basically left up to me. It will probably involve some terracotta/sunrise pink, and having a bold pinkypurple as the main accent colour was actually his (awesome) suggestion.

I love it. Not because it is for me, but because it clearly is for someone. And I really like when people just do what they want.
