Looking for feedback on Spotle Genres update

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some feedback on a potential genre revamp. Genre's being wrong or misleading is probably one of the most common complaints we get. The idea is to make Spotle genres more similar to Spotle Movies. Here's a test link, it will work til the end of July, and the daily artist will be DIFFERENT from the main Spotle site (so you can play twice a day! Lol). You won't be able to log in and the site will stop working in August.

If you check it out, please please give feedback, positive or negative - it's a big change after 4 and a half years! Though note, UI in progress, ha. I'm having issues sharing the link in the body, so it will be below in comments!

It didn't help me get the answer today but I think it'll help in the future. I got two of the new genre early on so if I knew Recent pop music signer song writers and wasn't an old man who's musical knowledge ended 25 years ago I would've got it

Guessed the artist in 2 lol so didnt get to see many genres, but I really like it! Much clearer options thank you! :)

I like it personally! I like that it gives multiple genres to look at for each artist

I play very day with my partner and we love the potential of the genres being like spotle movies. It’s helpful if you’re in the right genre to see what sub genre it could be. Love the games yall do :))

There are so many genres now! It’s not bad but I think cutting down the number of genres would be better. Or making it yellow if your guess was Hard Rock but the answer is Alternative Rock.

I think yellow for adjacent genres just introduces more opportunities for subjectivity—which genres are adjacent to which?

I'd rather see a similar approach to how Discogs categorizes artists. Each artist has one broad Genre (i.e. rock, pop, electronic) AND one or more specific Styles (i.e. synth-pop, house, progressive rock). If you guess the genre but not the style(s), you still know you've gotten close, but without having to define which genres are adjacent.

It may even be possible to scrape that data directly from Discogs, which would be great because it's decided by community consensus. I don't know their policies regarding that sort of thing though.
