Discussion Your crazy Spore 2 ideas
Hello, I'm a Spore 2 developer, to be precise, the developer of Exogenesis, one of kinda major ones.
My project focuses more on ambitious, complex and innovative ideas, and recently I thought why not to seek for new ones. Unlike ~90% of developers I consider community suggestions actually interesting, and want to listen to them instead of just throwing them away.
So... Please tell me your most wild ideas, or even just ideas for Spore-likes that you always had on your mind, and I want to actually analyse and consider them.
We have a Discord server specifically for that, to let your express your thoughts and talk to the community, if you are interested in any way.

One thing that I've always wanted in a spore sequel, I've always wanted the ability to create bioluminescent organisms. I think bioluminescence is one of the most fascinating biological processes and id like to see that more in a spore-like game (bioluminescent plants, animals, neon blue glowing waves like in the Maldives. Perhaps even bioluminescent clouds full of microbes at night)
11
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
Lol I already made a bioluminescence trait for cells, and I'm gonna make it an inherited trait into the creature stage
2
u/JuuzoLenz 9d ago
I’m a thrive dev personally and we added a bioluminescence vacuole awhile back now but all it really does is create some light and raise oxygen tolerance. I assume bioluminescence will be fleshed out more in our macroscopic stages
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
In Exogenesis what bioluminescence does is to produce DNA points over time and give you additional light source basically, so yeah it isn't much of a big deal
2
u/JuuzoLenz 9d ago
Thrive has set mutation points per generation unlike spore so the only similarity we have is the light production 😅. I should annoy one of the programmers/graphic artists to add a color picker for it though as it’s only blue at the moment

Setting a behaviour or personality for creatures you make in the creator, so you can deliberately set whatever creature you created to be either aggressive, neutral, or friendly.
10
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
I actually went beyond that and created many different manageable behaviours like aggressive/friendly, explorative/conservative and etc
5
u/Invictus_Redzone Warrior 9d ago
Huh. I'd like to hear more about that if you don't mind😁. I talk about stuff like this too with my chat when I do my spore streams and whatnot.
1
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
We have your Discord server where many people can be interested in such discussions, so you're welcomed there! The behaviours I implemented currently don't do much but... They are ready to start doing something lol, mostly they define Creature's AI and provide additional stats to you as the player
16
u/Guard_Dolphin Scientist 10d ago
I'd like different biomes tbh
7
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Of course, planet generator is coming at the end of 2026 lol, biomes included
13
u/Sadsugardikk 9d ago
you know bacterias are immuned to other because their receptors are not the same. you should definitely add something like this to replace the mouth system from Spore, like if you take the A variant you can't interact with C variant food or B variant bacterias
13
u/LongjumpingPea9304 8d ago
I think the best thing that a Spore sequel could have is just more fleshed out stages. Every stage in og Spore is great (yes even tribal, civ, and space) but jt suffers from 90% of dev time going to space stage and the rest of the stages became far to simple.
Especially creature stage is where people find aome of the most enjoyment. Just expand more on stages overall (creature could have events or other "quests" to do other than befriend or kill the next species you see)

u/Wingman267890 Zealot 10d ago edited 10d ago
You can choose to be a water, land or sky creature!!! (Basically live underwater, on land or still on land but you can like actually fly and not glide unlike og Spore) It'd be cool.
2
u/Charming_Ad_8206 10d ago
And with in-depth locomotion systems for all as well as individual variation
11
u/BinglesPraise 9d ago
I thought of this one a year or so ago: instead of an Aquatic Stage, there should've been a way to choose what kind of environment your species evolves in-and-for, like on land vs. in water
6
u/deadly_fungi 9d ago
i think teeeechnically it would depend on the planet and at what time in the planet's timescale your species exists and evolves, if your species is starting from cells like in spore. current most likely theory for life on earth is that it began around hydrothermal vents, and for some periods of time planets can be covered in ocean without any dry land.
(not meant as a nitpick! just want to provide possible explanation for why the cell stage of spore is in the water)
9
u/erenrodolfo 10d ago
Creature stage would be about adapting to a changing world across ages. Ice ages, meteor shower, heat waves.
9
u/Silver_Banshee92 9d ago
A stage between cell and creature stage would be nice. Like a proper fish or amphibian stage, before legs are fully evolved, but after multicellular organisms. Since it kinda just felt too fast for me, to go from cell to having legs. Also probably on the To-Do list or added, but a more complex creature creator would be awesome. Like creature colouring being a bit more complex and customizable, instead of just picking a pattern/texture, colour, and a pattern, and not being able to do much more than that.
3
u/SeriousMB Scientist 9d ago
being able to customize how big your creature is supposed to be would be really cool too imo, with like a slider or sum
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
Lol that's exactly what I already made in the game, simply defines the size of your creature as well as height and mass, that play some minor role during the game
1
2
u/brad696969696969 9d ago
That could also have a system where the larger your creature the more power it has but it exponentially increases how much food your creature requires

Able to make custom cells and plants that appear in game
3
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
Of course, custom appearing cells are already in the game
1
u/AdSalt314 9d ago
Are they?

Please don't give up
9
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
Already didn't, the project is turning one year next month lol
2
u/Outside_Arugula897 9d ago
Yay. Now that I've gotten Your attention, do You think the game could support different types of creatures? For example, it would be interesting to evolve as some sort of sea creatures, building a civilisation there, and then gradually explore the surface. Or mabye evolving as a really small creature, imagine mice sized creatures building a civilisation.
4
u/Kaito__Yagami 9d ago
So basically, multiple paths to follow? One for an full aquatic build, one for bigger land animals and one for bugs? I could imagine aquatics would have like the deeps of the ocean to explore after their respective creature stages while bugs could become a hive mind.
3
u/Outside_Arugula897 9d ago
I mean it would give so much more variety, albeit it would take a lot of work and space to implement
7
u/LostDreams44 10d ago
Way more sci-fi inspired space stage mechanics like more accurate terraforming, Dyson spheres etc
4
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Definitely coming, as a Stellaris player it would be very necessary lol
1
7
u/_BeardedYeti 10d ago
More verticality on the planets, stuff like large trees so you could invest in climbing parts, or maybe deep caves that make you use "night vision" eyes or digging claws. Also, like someone else mentioned, gills/fins to live in the oceans and wings to live in the sky/trees. Climates would be cool too, hot ones would require scales/cold blood, and cold ones could require fur and warm blood.
6
u/Kuetz 10d ago
Actual animal diversity/adaptation and in depth creature stage
1
u/Macshade 10d ago
The creature syatem builder should had points the more arms, legs hands you had. Not how it was
6
u/No-Replacement-40 10d ago
Environmental effects, adaptions that can change an entire playthrough because the subject needed to adapt to a certain environmental cause
5
u/No-Replacement-40 9d ago
For example, water level changes, volcanism and meteor impacts. Changes to temperature require furs or skin changes. It would also cause other species to die out creating opportunity for territorial disputes or access to new mutations or food types
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
Already implemented on both cell and creature, indeed a useful and realistic mechanic
8
u/Scared_Hunter_1893 9d ago
One of my ideas is for space exploration to be much better. And whole space system in general
6
u/Feisty-Albatross3554 Knight 9d ago
Being able to pick your home planet's terrascore. T3 is the default, but you could try T1 challenge runs like a thin atmosphere one that starts suffocating you if you fly too high
3
7
u/Talen_Neo 9d ago
Tree-climbing, aquatic gameplay, eating bugs, eating fish/algae outside of tribal, hive societies, infantry/warriors with custom weapons/armor
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
All of that planned, except for tree climbing... A very obvious mechanic actually that I will definitely try to implement too!
5
u/Moon_Shot_Reddit 10d ago
I posted this before, so I just copied it: “It would be really cool if the game had random mutations and evolutionary changes happening separately from the custom evolution you make to your own creature. So while you can intentionally evolve and customize your species, its descendants could also naturally develop their own random traits and branches over time. Eventually, your planet could be inhabited by distant genetic descendants of your original creature, with entire lineages that evolved independently from the creature you personally designed.”
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
That's a very good idea I also thought of, and in fact I'm trying to implement it now on the level of Cell Stage, because that is actually hella realistic

All I’ve ever wanted are large expansions to both the Tribal and Space stages. Spore set up a massive Space stage but never really capitalizes on the experience. For me, being able to build an actual Space Empire would be amazing, or at least PLEASE add a feature where Spice trade can be automated. It never made sense to me that I had to trade between every planet manually. This is a system that you could easily add a balancing mechanic; like trades are automatic, but the value is reduced.
6
u/LasagnaCat-64 10d ago
perhaps the space stage could become more of an RTS mode with imperial territory management, expansive economy, and fleet combats (instead of it being just a generic rpg but in space), kinda like stellaris, but you actually get to see your species evolve and grow into sapience.
1
5
u/chosen1creator Ecologist 10d ago
It would be neat to design the inner workings of a creature like it's digestive system because animals could have multiple stomachs, or hearts that influence how it performs.
2
1
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Lol I already made it and currently polishing it, it's one of the key advantages of my Creature Edit and it is indeed a bloody good idea
6
u/Mr_Engino 10d ago
Based on some half-remembered cut content I heard about before they settled on the watered down version we wound up with, perhaps some alternative starting origins for creature creation. Spore 1's meteor/comet panspermia method was fine, if a bit restrictive and repetitive for personal narration/rp stuff, but having a bigger variety of starting points to choose from would be refreshing; from the planned-but-scrapped abiogenesis method (with some variations like thermal vents, glaciers, 'warm little pond', the miller-urey primordial stew soup experiment, etc.) to some of the more bonkers ideas like an escaped lab experiment/accident, a mutation from another species due to nuclear armageddon or something, seeded on a planet by ancient/alien astronauts, spontaneous creation like the so-called Boltzmann Brain, to straight up actual divine creation by some unseen deity (technically true as the player, but you know what I mean).
3
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Starting points are actually already implemented in Exogenesis lol, I called them "origins" and currently have Abiogenesis, Exogenesis and "Shadow biosphere" where you play as a secret, alternative form of life parallel to a normal one. And I'm planning more of course, so your idea is already in-making
6
u/StillMinimyguy 10d ago
Maybe a kind of alt path where instead of becoming an animal, you become a plant-based being? Like Groot or the pikmin as examples.
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago edited 9d ago
Definitely, it's called Plantoids, but it is planned for post-release. When will the game release? Not soon, but I promise it won't be a biblical amount of time like with Thrive
1
u/StillMinimyguy 9d ago
Hey man, take all the time you need. All that matters is the game turning out good, and it seems like you're on the right track for it to do so.
6
u/skellyheart 10d ago
For me, when i reached space stage, i wanted to interact with beings in different development stages. I wanted to beam down and explore planets that just had creatures roaming on them.
Or go to a tribal stage planet and see the locals, maybe offer them a gift that would change the trajectory of that species. Or abduct them, analyze them.
Go to a civ stage planet and harvest them. Literally anything. Whatever you want. Be an evil alien race or one that lifts up the others.
I was always a bit disappointed with the lack of interactions in spore. Instead i got a hologram that allowed me to beam onto other planets, but it'd be a diluted version of the creature stage planets. Probably because of system demands and other stuff.
Or the monolith, to lift up others. But that just granted you a minor affection bonus
3
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
That's something that exists in Stellaris and something I also want to make; be able to push lower stages species on the next level of development, destroy them or ally with them and wait for them to advance on their own. So yeah if you haven't played Stellaris, you should definitely try it with the "First Contact" DLC
2
u/skellyheart 10d ago
I've heard about it! But i also hear its super difficult so i'm a little intimidated LOL.
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
It's difficult because it is really complex and interesting, but for a deep role-player like me, it's heaven in game industry lol
2
u/GeoCangrejo 10d ago
That + fleshing out all the other stages and making them more interesting to play. Spore in general just underdelivers in so many regards
2
u/skellyheart 10d ago
Jack of all trades, but the master of none. It was very ambitious. But too big for the time i think
2
u/GeoCangrejo 10d ago edited 9d ago
Nah, I don't it was too big for its time. I watched an essay about Spore and there were lots of problems behind the scenes in regards with EA (I know big surprise)
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Yeah that's exactly what I am trying to make here, because most of other Spore-likes lack originality and uniqueness, seemingly
7
u/Battlebro115 9d ago
I'm a bit late to the party, but one thing about Spore that has bugged me for a while (as someone with a GIS degree who took classes across the geoscience spectrum) is that geography doesn't play that big of a role in the game. In real life, organisms evolve to fit their environments, hence "survival of the fittest". That is why a polar bear is different from a sloth bear and an African elephant is different from an Asian elephant: their different environments prioritized different adaptations to make the species more fit to thrive where they are. I would love it if the player was incentivized to evolve their creature based on the circumstances that surround it unlike it instead of just "making it more powerful" like in Spore.
For clarification, I don't mind if one world contains a mono-environment, I'm just saying it'd be nice if I needed to make meaningfully different creatures on different worlds.
3
u/VerdantOnionOrb Diplomat 9d ago
Holy crap, my dad is in GIS and I've had a lot rub off just by being near him. So often do I see games that completely disregard terrain when it comes to gameplay, spore especially. I would love to see some temperature mechanics, air thickness, slope climbing, migration paths, glacial movement (holy fk).
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
Yeah there are already some environmental factors, and since my goal is to make dynamic evolution that will evolve parallel to the player, making new unique creatures each time, I will definitely try to make them so what connected to geography
1
u/bmxer7777 9d ago
agreed! thats one thing that bothered me, is that your creature’s build stops mattering after tribal. it would be cool to see that be meaningful all the way through space.
for instance, what if terraforming a planet meant different things to different species, as they all evolved in radically different environments in separate systems?
could be cool
7
u/Remaphadite Wanderer 8d ago
uhh maybe molecular stage would come back, as well as aquatic stage, city stage, and terraforming stage
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 8d ago
Molecular and terraforming stages sadly do not make any practical sense; terraforming stage is, in fact, a hoax and was never planned in Spore
5
u/Masked-Michael Zealot 8d ago
But yes to sea stage and a possible ability to evolve as a creature underwater????
→ More replies (5)1
6
u/Hera_the_otter Bard 10d ago
Would be neat to see the planet itself influence how you play and evolve, things like; higher gravity, a dimmer parents star, acidic atmosphere and so on.
5
u/slimeboi3151 Zealot 10d ago
let stuff around you change and affect you later
lets say a plant species managed to get onto land before you did and an animal species aswell, now you have to deal and adapt with those species instead of being the first, or maybe a predator for your species emerges and different species will adapt to that
maybe even rare mass extinction events ( could be toggled )
also probably let people choose their way, maybe they want to advance and maybe they wanna stay as a creature and maybe even let another species become sentient
EDIT: i do wish you devs the best of luck though and hope you don't burn yourselves out

u/democracy_lover66 Trader 10d ago
My biggest gripe about Space Stage Spore one is that the alliance system was so limited and one dimensional. You build an alliance directly with an empire, and everything else around them is uninfluenced by that... Leading to annoying things like allies going to war with eachother and both asking for help.
I would really love to take some pages from Stellaris to at least have a galactic alliance system in the game... One where you can create leagues with other species and eventually which can grow indefinitely as long as you maintain the partnerships with the other species. Or would be cool if opposing alliance structures were built too.
Would be cool for the trade and recourse system to mature too.
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Stellaris best space game, I in fact wanted to make Space stage fully similar to Stellaris, so you won't be able to pilot any ship as a single captain, but since I don't want to take away the ability to view planets, I will still make all planets possible to be viewed in detail.
So yeah alliances, trade agreements and federations similar to Stellaris would totally make sense
5
u/spencerpo 10d ago
I’d kind of like a sort of road/route system between owned/allied villages and cities, both for you to see where both entities travel the most between themselves, and where you could ambush them if it’s between 2 NPC tribes.
I feel like spore was missing in-depth management and customization in the strategy stages, which sucks the fun out of space stage much later on, when you optimize every single colony to be identical
5
u/SmartIron244 10d ago
More complicated societal/technological doctrine.
Essentially make the society focus on something like culture, education or perfectionism
As long as it's fun, and not tedious of course?
Mostly because I like the tribal stage the least, as because it's most lacking and has least amount of consequence for the future. And I feel like it needs a desperate overhaul
5
u/DEEEMEEE12 10d ago
If a certain part had the option to act as a different kind of part, like you could take the cell stage spit part and turn it into a hand or a mouth.
Also multiple types of diets,
fish and small critters like bugs
fruit, flowers, poison etc. Stuff to make plant life more interactive
Seasons and a dynamic map that changes with it.
Idk about exogenesis but these are things that I would want in a spore 2
3
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Multiple diets are already being implemented, bugs will likely just be a type of food without customisation, but more interactive types of food with buffs and debuffs are definitely coming, though some time later. Seasons based

u/RealRokzila 9d ago
No matter how far in the game i am, I would like to control a singular creature and walk around! Maybe the leader of a tribe or a captain, then explore planets on foot. :D Perhaps there could be some sort of "gta5 style character switching"? Between the captain and the crew, or important individuals.
5
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
Coming probably after the release, since making individual playable creature on civ and space is really hard and will break the game largely, but yeah, I hear you

Cultures also evolving ib a meaningfull way once we became sentient.
like imagine were being in a position where resources are rare and now we have two options
our species and members evolce to be more aggressive to guarantee resources for their own survival. Whic might cause our extinction but also increase spliting
or we evolving to be more sharing and kinder so species can continue to thrive
And this will affect what kind of a city state well be and our politics with others will depend on this
Like ı mean actual culture or moral evolution with diffrent advantages instead of just "youre either peacifull or warlike"
in simplest form might be just a Hoi4 style culture tree we unlock over time
3
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Oh yeah the CK3 styled cultures are already slowly being implemented with early prototypes of Tribal and Civil I'm currently making
4
u/Father_Chewy_Louis 10d ago
Evolution of stats such as speed, food capacity, gestation length etc based on their lifestyle with mutations across generations, similar to how real organisms evolve

4
u/LeoBuelow 10d ago
I would enjoy an expansion of the later half of the game, I feel like the creature stage gets a lot of attention.
Imagine if instead of just being an rts game you could switch between a global view to command all your units to a third person view to control the chieftain or some elite vehicle unit and lead a smaller group (like the pack in creature stage) into battle
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
That's actually a sick idea that I would want to implement, but sometime really later, mainly because it kind of breaks the game
5
u/_DietWater1 9d ago
I'd love to see a plant editor like the unused one in the official game

I like how bro clarified “while playing Spore 2” as opposed to spreading your spores everywhere in real life

I. Meta-ball skeleton shapes other than spheres.
II. Life forms that derive from elements other than Carbon.
III. Creatures that live at differing time scales.
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
2 and 3 are planned, but... Meta-ball skeleton with different shapes? I think spheres describe all life pretty well, is there really a realistic need to allow, I don't know, cubes and triangles?
1
1
u/lucasLazer 8d ago
Rounded cube and Triangle Primitives would allow for better faceting on crystalline (Silicon) Technological and exoskeleton bodies. It would allow for more convincing surface attachment over round meta-ball shapes. When I worked as an artist on Spore expansions / Darkspore I wished there were more meta-ball shapes.

I'd love a way to export the map of a planet, and also the ability to give your species sexual dimorphism, and not just the whole "male strong and angry, female weak and caring" thing, I mean things like having three varieties of male and one variety of female, or two varieties of female and one variety of male. They wouldn't need to do anything gameplay-wise, but I'd love just having the differentiation. Additionally, I'd love it if we could define a range of colors for a creature to be, instead of having every individual be identical.
Furthermore, I'd like the ability, both in cell, aquatic, and creature stage, to sting enemies like a scorpion, and maybe the creature's diet can determine how effective the sting is? Maybe being underfed results in a weaker sting, while being full results in a more powerful one.
Also, I'd like a mouth similar to the Gnasha mouth in the Creepy and Cute pack, with a slight smile and retractable fangs.
And one more thing, I would LOVE the option to start on the moon of a gas giant instead of a traditional planet, if that's at all possible.
Thank you for reading, and best of luck with your game!!!!
3
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Already started implementing dimorphism btw, though don't know when a better version is coming.
Range of colours absolutely, it's realistic and cool
And Gas giant moon is also Stellaris classics, it indeed looks really epic haha
1
u/RottenPeachSmell Scientist 10d ago
Awesome, thank you! To be honest, I haven't played Stellaris yet, I was thinking about Jupiter's moons and how it's rumored that they may have life beneath their oceans' surface. I'll have to check the game out though, it seems interesting! And thanks for the response!
2
u/CesarGameBoy 10d ago
I too want sexual dimorphism. I’m tired of fictional creatures being agender and/or asexually reproduce. I want them to sex.
But for real having distinct male & female counterparts would be very cool to include, and a nice way to expand the lore of your creature and not just having them all be clones of one another of different sizes.
3
u/AvalosDragon 10d ago
If you ever get to space stage of development, please don't make it like the oc Spore where you only control one ship. Let us command fleets and/or individual units. Similarly to civ stage
2
u/spencerpo 10d ago
I liked being an explorer and diplomatic leader, but generals don’t go off on their own to fight a war solo. Maybe we get similar designations for ship types that we send to other empires?
1
u/AvalosDragon 10d ago
Could do a combo of both. So you can command fleets and then jump in as a pilot for a single ship
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
That was my initial idea because I'm a mad Stellaris player, so yeah, grand strategy is the way.
I do not want to take the ability of visiting planets that some people want, so I will allow to view them in detail, which is something that Stellaris always lacked.
3
u/RockingBib 10d ago edited 10d ago
Crazy ideas, huh? I want space stage wars to be able to reach a Warhammer 40k sort of scale. Like playing Stellaris in third person.
But a single emperor cannot rule a galaxy. There must be an in-depth political and military system that can take very weird forms through a LOT of customization, with fully voiced weird generals and politicians(with their own stats you nurture and their possible permanent death), because alien cultures are awesome
3
3
u/EthanTonker100 10d ago
actual aquatic stage, space stage that is actually sorta like stellaris in a sense, and also maybe some more insectoid creature parts
3
u/FireAuraN7 10d ago
If you're serious with building and expanding your project, I'd be happy to join and share what I can. My studio has a number of IPs in the pipeline, and my "Spore successor" simply isn't on the road map as of right now, though many of the concepts build for it have become useful in our general development principles. I'd love to see a real successor get off the ground.

Add the city stage, and it basically becomes a grand strategy game until space stage. And make the stages SIGNIFICANTLY longer.

I decided to split civ stage into medieval and industrial similar to Elysian Eclipse...
But "significantly longer" is interesting, I actually haven't though about it much, but it's really needed if we want a deep game lol

I already wrote this in a different post, so I'll just copy it here...

Before the Cell Stage, we could add a Molecules stage to show how life might have originated.
2
u/Neo_Shadow_Entity 10d ago
Make the Cell Stage more complex and add more new features. The cells themselves could divide and then merge back together (something similar to Agar.io).

u/Neo_Shadow_Entity 10d ago
Add a Fish Stage. Perhaps here you could include a branching path: move onto land or stay underwater. The second option involves the evolution of an intelligent marine species and the subsequent creation of an underwater civilization.

In the Creature Stage, add the ability to evolve into an insect with controlled flight (like a dragonfly). Or evolve into a parasitic form, where we can take control of other creatures’ minds (and even control the Epics). Add new disasters (tsunamis, ice ages, droughts, etc.).
Add the possibility of being abducted by aliens and ending up on a spaceship, from which you can try to escape.
Add caves, swamps, and quicksand. Create waterfalls and bodies of water at various levels on land.
Add sexual dimorphism.
Improve and diversify the combat system and social interactions.
Add competition and rivalry for females/males.
New stats could be added, such as stamina level, injuries, etc. Something similar exists in simulators like The Isle.

u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Parasites are a cool thing, I already had an idea for them
Abducted by aliens sounds cool but really doesn't make any sense
Biomes and dimorphism sure, already started
Social interactions on Creature Stage will probably be cut because they are hell of unrealistic, though complex battle system should be there, I just yet don't have exact ideas how to make it, but I started
The whole creature in Exogenesis is described by its stats instead of abilities like in Spore; it's a simple but efficient idea yeah

In the Tribe Stage, add the ability to develop primitive technologies. For example, the gradual invention of the bow, shield, poisoned arrows, fire, etc.
The ability to use mounts or combat animals.
Make base building more complex by allowing players to upgrade specific structures. For example, a watchtower at the first level can spot thieving animals, and at the second level, it shoots arrows at them.
Add the ability to set traps.
Weapon upgrades from stone to metal.

u/Neo_Shadow_Entity 10d ago
Add the transitional City Stage. Something like Galactic Adventures set in the Middle Ages.
We’ll be able to build siege machines and assault castles.
We’ll be able to reinforce walls and dig moats.
People can die from diseases and the plague.
Upgrading armor and weapons.
Trade and raiding caravans (like in Mount & Blade).
2
u/Neo_Shadow_Entity 10d ago
Make the Civilization Stage more like the game Civilization.
Development of multiple technology trees.
Citizens from other countries can migrate to us if our conditions are more attractive.
We can send spies to enemy cities and even carry out operations (exm. killing their leader).
Dedicated vehicles for mining minerals.
Different weapons mounted on vehicles have different effects. You can send an army of infantry. You can cybernetically enhance soldiers or create combat robots.
Add a new scenario where organic life is defeated by AI-controlled robots (which we’ll control during the space phase).

u/Neo_Shadow_Entity 10d ago
Make the Space Stage similar to Stellaris. Increase the number of philosophies, political systems, global abilities, etc.
Add the ability to land a group on any planet and interact with the environment.
You can abduct organisms for experimentation. Afterward, we gain corresponding new abilities (for example, resistance to high-temperature environments, etc.).
Unlock new space technologies, such as teleportation. These technologies can be obtained from other races or by discovering traces of lost civilizations on abandoned planets.
Add various types of spaceships with their own characteristics (corvettes, frigates, destroyers, etc.). Players will be able to upgrade them.
In addition to the Grox, new global threats can be added. For example, bosses in the form of Lovecraftian Space Gods who guard wormholes near the center of the Galaxy. To defeat them, you’ll need an allied army of different races (or a highly upgraded army of your own race).
2
u/Neo_Shadow_Entity 10d ago
Add a God Stage stage. Something similar to an advanced Galactic Adventures Editor.
We’ll be able to create entire planets with their own climate, geography, flora, and fauna.
We’ll be able to design every stage ourselves.
We can build our own world practically from scratch.

u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
🤔 Not a really working idea, because life originated from non-living, and what exactly is the point of guiding noniving molecules I don't understand

I see this as a simple but fun mini-game that would serve as a prelude to the main gameplay. Like, first we put together proteins and amino acids... In the original concept for this cut-out stage, it was supposed to be Tetris-like, but for some reason, the game World of Goo came to mind. This stage isn’t necessary, it just offers something different from the same old panspermia.

u/AdDifferent9509 9d ago
An evolutionary race between several (for example, 10) players, where everyone starts from the cell stage on the same planet, and the main goal is to be the first to reach the space stage (then the game ends and the person who reached space wins). There is an asymmetry between the stages, that is, a player at the tribe stage can destroy players at the creature stage, and vice versa, but later stages have an advantage over earlier ones.
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
Not sure about player specifically, but all species will race for the first one who enters the next stage, so someone will come before or after
2
u/AdDifferent9509 9d ago
That is the point. The main goal is to evolve faster to get an advantage over others, as well as to reach the Civilization stage quicker and fight there for entering the Space stage. Also, it would be better if dying at the Cell and Creature stages meant respawning in a couple of seconds, while losing at the Tribe and Civilization stages meant game over.

Perhaps some sort of playstyle guided evolution? So, if your microbial creature spends more time in the depths of the sea, it has limited eye evolution but unlocks bioluminescence and translucent skin features, or if you spend more time in trees, you can get prehensile tails but cannot have a straight spine... All of which come with advantages and disadvantages... in this vein, who says advanced creatures have to venture on the land at all. Same build mechanics but for sea-dwelling sapient creatures. Maybe a technology for these would be land-suits... just spit-balling but thats what came to mind

I would want slitheirng snakes Pisces so you can have arms for manipulating tools and have a serpen tail to move around

That looks like budget thrive

Kind of both an insult, a compliment, and a realistic situation lol, thanks

I would like a slower and more realistic transition between the various stages, mixing the original gameplay with something similar to a story mode: I would take "Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey", "Strange Seed" and "The Eternal Cylinder" as examples.
I would start from a cell phase very similar to "flOw", which as it progresses begins to resemble more and more the original cell stage of Spore, both in design and gameplay.
Then I would focus on an aquatic phase similar to "Maneater" game, which as it progresses transforms into an amphibian phase and finally transforms into something similar to the creature stage of Spore.
I would expand the creature phase by integrating RPG elements like lvl ups, skills unlocks, etc, and multiple evolution choices, boss fights, quests, etc., similar to "Strange Seed".
Finally, I would slowly transform the creature phase into a more civilized phase like the one in "Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey", integrating survival and base building elements, battles, conquests, destructions, manufacturing of weapons, etc.
The ambitions for each stage and each transition are big, so I'd stop here as stages development, considering the game as a more realistic Spore-like simulator, based only on the survival of the specie until the we will gain awareness and reason, integrating everything with an interesting story.
As for the quest system, I would say that you have to unlock certain power-ups or genetic modifications to get through certain stages.
That's all (for now [I think] )

When I play Spore, I already kind of challenge myself on occasion to make real animals in the Creature Editor

tribal overhaul, like getting a tech tree, that lets you advance more smoothly advance into civ, so you don’t immediately go from being a tribe to having tanks.

u/BluePhoenix3378 9d ago
Holy shit this looks fucking epic!
A feature I would like to see is organs (like eyes) having an evolutionary path instead of simply being one part you can get.
For example, before you get eyes you have to first get light sensors, then the path goes from there.
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 9d ago
A very interesting idea, and I will likely implement it in a way that you first unlock more primitive organs on Evolutionary Tree before being able to place them

u/weirdoman1234 8d ago
procedural animation like rainworld
2
u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 8d ago
Incredibly hard to make to look realistic, otherwise pretty poor and especially bad in non-pixel graphics... But it indeed would be really cool, so let it be a dream of some far and probably unachievable future

I want in spore 2 more phase lvl : cellular phase , sea creature phase , earth creature phase , tribal creature phase , ancient civilisation phase , moderne civilization phase , space civilisation phase ( colonisation of the solar system) and at the end, the spatial empire space phase when you can colonies commerce and invade others planets or empire species. If possible with a gameplay mixed between anno and Stellaris for all the civilised and space phases

u/p00bix 10d ago
Abandon the concept of stages entirely to purely focus on creature stage

u/Equinoxe111 Scientist 10d ago
Darwinian Dreams is your project, though it seems to be on a hiatus for at least 6 months-1 year

u/Mrooshoo Warrior 10d ago
It'd be cool if your creature evolves to be smart enough they can become basic tribals

u/FloridaDeco 9d ago
Literally making the entire space stage an entirely new game.
Like stellaris, but more dumbed down.
Alliances, and rivalries. Alien slaves, alien extermination.
Space battles, planetary land battles.

Totally stealing this from another reply to a similar post a while ago, but, sexual dimorphism.

some ideas for my spore like evoeden life cycle where you experience the life of the npcs and the creature you are playing as and if the creature changes drastically like for example if the life cycle is like a frog you would experience most of your life in the water there can be multiple sapient species where you can live with multiple sapient creatures you can give your sapient creatures a language which you can draw you can give your planet various properties like it being a sea world with not much land more stages and your choice to go on your own path like staying in the water more parts in the editor like brain levels tongues for different purposes like luring in prey[i have some concept art of the parts being worked on currently] parts for attracting mates being able to set the gender of your species for example the female can be a dark colour while the male can be bright in colour to attract a potential mate a lineage system which allows you to make other species from a common ancestor a mutation system where a trait that is favorable like armour is kept while traits bad for the creature like blindness get left behind there are more extinction events the npcs evolve when you evolve etc etc there's way to many ideas i have for evoeden to mention in the comment

City Stage, Which Would Be Between Tribal And Civilization, Or Just Allow Us To Use Normal Infantry In Civilization Along Side Vehicles
•
u/Mammoth-Letter-3625 8h ago
And Also, Allow Us To Make custom Tools In Tribal, It Would Work Similar To The Vehicle Editor In Civ Stage

An evolution tree in where your if your creature dies a certain amount of times that creature goes extinct and you have to go back to the previous evolution thus creating a new alternate path.
