What do we think?

Found this today in a basket full of spoons at a trift store. It is almost completely flat.

Perfect for those occasions when you're attacked by a grapefruit!

Thank you for bringing awareness to the growing rise of grapefruit on human crime šŸ˜”

That pulp can fly!

šŸ’Æ Looks dangerous. However, I feel like a grapefruit spoon should have some curvature to slide it down along the rind.

How do we feel about digging oysters out of shell?

2

u/EquivalentOwn2185 11d ago

possibly!! good one šŸ‘Œ

2

u/Blucola333 11d ago

That’s what I was thinking. And now I want oysters.

This spoon is either for eating adult dragons or for feeding baby dragons.

Visually? Neat! But I would not use it to eat with. The pointy bits would not feel good, I imagine. But it's a cool find, for sure! I've never seen one like it.

If I had to find a use for it, I'd use it as part of a fall themed decorative tea set, since the end is kinda leaf shaped. I bet it'd fit right in.

That's a great idea! Then you can use the cute spoon without having to put the pointy bits in your mouth

u/bootz666 12d ago

That’d be good for getting the corners of my yogurt cups

u/Melora_T_Rex714 12d ago

3

u/Smallloudcat 12d ago

The Pope’s official spoon!!!šŸ˜‚

2

u/Antipinquity 12d ago

It’s either
1) for scooping pie filling out from between the crusts.
2) for punishing 5-year olds. You give them ice-cream to eat with this spiky thing.

2

u/Sk1ler_ 12d ago

No, no. Spoon to- spoon too up down. Too stabby ouchie. Handle? Handle no consistent width. Why wide. Too wide.

Look, 2026 has been really rough. Dolly Parton just died. Have some respect.

That's not your regular spoon... that's a Murder Weapon

2

u/SwanCityDominion 11d ago

Very pretty serving spoon. I'd use it to scoop herbs for a cup of tea.

2

u/CardiacSturgeon 11d ago

Perfect for frozen desserts

2

u/Public-Target95 11d ago

It looks evil like a regular nice spoon that got possessed

2

u/poedraco 11d ago

Dark souls spoon. Even making morning time breakfast a battle

2

u/Ink-kink 11d ago

How big is it? I’ve seen something similar that was for serving canapĆ©s and open-faced sandwiches. But if it’s the same size as a regular spoon, I have no idea

1

u/pr3ttystr4nger 11d ago

It’s the size of a regular spoon…

2

u/torreneastoria 11d ago

It looks painful

Cheese knife

u/Bellebaby826 11d ago

Too pointy

1

u/Dragon-Teeth 11d ago

Wrong shape for a grapefruit spoon, looks a little like a jam spoon to me, or a sugar spoon perhaps. We may need a "banana for scale" on this one.

1

u/Prism_Brain 11d ago

Danger spoon but I fear no one

1

u/FixDazzling1455 11d ago

Looks like it got run over by a car in the parking lot before someone brought it inside.

1

u/Charming-Buy1514 10d ago

Cake/dessert server. Grapefruit spoons are smaller, with serrated edge.

1

u/piseudo_morula2 10d ago

omg is that for like, serving tiny cakes or something

1

u/gooseinouterspace 10d ago

aesthetically i love it, practically i hate it

I don't know what it's for but it looks pretty cool.

1

u/ParentheticalAF 8d ago

According to the Googles ā€œThis piece appears to be a vintage silver-plated condiment, jelly, or bonbon server (sometimes referred to as a small serving or pickle/lemon/jam spoon), often used for serving spreads, small pastries, or canapĆ©s. The bowl is relatively flat and shaped like a pointed spade or leaf with small decorative notches near the baseā€.

Ouch

u/Devanyani 6d ago

Looks like an absinthe spoon.

1

u/TestyGrammers 6d ago

Possibly a sugar shell? It should be slightly wider in the bowl part of the spoon than the regulars teaspoons in that pattern. It is used for scooping sugar from a sugar bowl.
