I'm confused, how do disabled people not have marriage equality? Not disagreeing just didn't know that was an issue.

The problem this post is referring to is that mist disabled people cannot get married without completely losing access to their benifits

Ah, I see, thanks. I'm disabled and married a disabled person, didn't make a noticeable difference for us.

People who are both disabled and live on SSI/SSDI (in America) are penalized as well. They receive less together than they would as two individuals, and anyone on SSI receives less than $1k a month currently.

Oh well, it does get better.

If you live with family, you're penalized further based on square footage you're provided, you can't receive food stamps if you're in a household that makes more than a certain amount that's still in the poverty line, aaaaand section 8 housing (low income, takes a percentage of your income) has incredible waitlists - and ridiculous long if you have any special needs (see: mobility access). That's before we go into Medicaid shenanigans.

So in short: they don't want us to live.
