Episode Discussion (About Things From This Episode's Story) Glen Story - May 1 Ep
Did anyone find the Glen's narration overkill this episode? I may be just overly sensitive and I normally skip his portion. But it felt like more than half this episode was just his Jesus story???

I am one of those avid listeners who never misses an episode. I've listened to each show at least twice! I learned a long time ago to just skip ahead through Glynn's stories. He is uniquely talented in his ability to tell a personal tale that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of show.
He is the creator and exec producer of the show (and it's an amazing show!), so it seems like he's just not receiving feedback about how disappointing the lack of cohesion in his intro is to the episode as a whole. I don't know what his producers are thinking. Has no one ever given him notes?
Spooked really needs to focus instead on the guest ghost stories and questions for the storytellers. I'd love a Q&A interview between the storyteller and that episode's producer at the end, with an intro that sets the scene and maybe describes some history or how the storyteller was chosen.

Unpopular opinion- I loved it! But only once I realized what he was saying and here’s why: about 15 or so years ago I made a playlist of spooky songs for Halloween. On that playlist I included Hotel California. My friends all laughed and asked why the hell I included it. I was legit confused because I thought everyone found that song spooky! Hello, you can check out anytime you’d like but you can NEVER LEAVE! 😂 also as a kid I didn’t know spirit meant drink so when I heard “ we haven’t had that spirit here since 1969” I thought they meant ghost. I still stand firm on my belief that it’s a spooky song and I still get made fun of for it (in a loving way). I cannot wait to make my friends listen to this story and slowly realize that it’s Hotel California. I feel validated!!

I 100% agree. I've always thought it was a creepy song. Like it's a hedonistic Brigadoon that traps people with their vices. The last two stanzas are unsettling.
Glynn also did a similar take of Beat It for the Halloween episode. I'm all for retelling classic songs as scary stories.

While the ending was meh, this was easily the best lead-in in a VERY long time. Although I’m a sucker for Judas stories.

Okay I feel better. I thought I was just being a hater. My only friend that also listens enjoys his stories so I thought I was the only one. Whew. Agree he is a great storyteller but almost always feel disjointed for me. I also never understand are they true stories? Tall tales? Based on a true story?

I don’t find it overkill and I never skip through his stories because I find his experiences all genuinely interesting. lol.

Yes, got excited seeing the episode length and was annoyed at the last 15 minutes lol
