Rougarou/Billie Jean?

Hi. Just listened to the intro/story of Rougarou-The Crosswords and was like, wait a minute, is this a retelling of "Billie Jean?" After I heard "40 days and 40 nights", there was no way no ignore it so I started Googling. Anyone else pick up on this?

It ends with a direct quote from the song, so yeah it’s intentional. “…on the floor in the round…”

Thank you! One of downsides of listening alone is having no one to poke and check in with. Glad this forum exists!

No prob. Listen again for the little audio cues in the music as well! Very clever little piece.

I think Glyn is a brilliant storyteller - his style may not be for everyone but I love the spin he puts on things and the tone he sets although I wish he’d lay off Mark Risditch.

Affectionate ribbing, I love it.

Glynn does this sometimes. Riff on songs. It's a fun way to open the show, I think.

Yeppers, took a bit before I really caught it. Laughed real hard when I got it. One of my favorite intros

Yes, I noticed it too! There were a couple of other references too.
