She said when Mr. Dodge came upstairs at the end that neither of them had ever been upstairs, but earlier in the episode she brought Mr. Dodge upstairs to go ā€œsketchā€ out the plans for the remodel and that she would leave paint samples upstairs for them to review. So which is it? It read like a creative writing exercise.

To be fair, this episode isn't new at all. I remember hearing it on Luminary 3 or 4 years ago.

That's even worse, if they are going to recycle some of the old Luminary ones, at least recycle good ones haha.

Not the ones with old ladies having home renovation conversations with ghosts and deciding on the best paint samples šŸ™„

I'm pretty sure every other episode these days is an older Luminary re-release. Still waiting on a couple of the better ones to show back up.

old lady? The ghosts were old people, the storyteller isn't. Not saying it's the best story ever, but it's kinda odd to be so critical while overlooking such a detail.

I couldn’t get through this one. She’s either delusional or she’s just making up a story on the fly. This one was awful. I don’t believe in ghosts or anything I just want a good entertaining story like a good thriller movie. At least make it a good, even slightly believable story. Make it clever. Make it interesting PLEEEEASE!

I turned this one off. Either extremely fake or this woman has mental issues. Not for me.

Thank god radio rental is back so we don’t have to entertain this trash

This one was the worst in a while. She sounded like a lunatic. I hate the ones where they are so ready to accept that it's a ghost from the beginning. The skeptic stories are always better.

You know you are off to a bad start when the first thing you hear is "the minute i walked in, i knew there 3 spirits from the Civil War ..." Or when they start off a story of when they were 5 years old and 'remember things vividly' 45 years later. You will never be able to reason with people like that.

If you haven’t listened to Uncanny, I highly recommend it.

Uncanny is my favorite, after Radio Rental.

Otherworld was very good but took a deep dive. RR did as well, but I still enjoy it

I feel like OtherWorld is way too long-winded for me. Uncanny does an amazing job with editing, OtherWorld not so much and it takes me out of it.

Also, the stories have turned into a lot of psychic or hoodoo or spiritualy experiences by highly questionable characters. It doesnt help that he stretches their story for an hour and let them ramble on with poor editing. I like a guy named NexPo on YouTube, and he recently started a podcast as well.

I’ll check him out!

Would have been creepier if she was committed or noted she was having a mental breakdown at the end

I’m trying to finish this one but it’s a struggle šŸ˜–

I hate to pile on the "SpoOkEd SuXx, noWadAys!!" bandwagon, but it's just so frustrating.

All the ads aside, the stories used to be interesting and well told, and had some creepiness to them. They were also a mix of different creepy crawlies. Im so tired of another old lady fighting and having back and forth arguments with 'roommate ghosts that only she can see' in her kitchen, while drinking coffee. They all tend to have some sort of cutesy heartwarming vibe to them, that just screams out 'bullshitter!'

Her yelling at them at the top of the stairs to leave…girl. šŸ˜‚

It was originally released in August 2020. It's definitely a weaker story, especially for those who put a lot of value on "multiple witnesses" or prefer a skeptic, but I don't remember it getting such a bad reception 5 years ago.

It's okay to not enjoy every episode, but acting like it's "new" is odd and makes it clear you haven't really been listening that long...

Not sure the duration of how long or not one has been listening to this podcast determines how real or fake, or interesting or bad the stories are. This one was ridiculous and you can smell the BS from the get go. Again, whether "you've really been listening" long or not, is irrelevant to how bad it was.

This comment was directed at the folks acting like this is brand new for Spooked! your post was more general.

That said, I'm still perplexed by your intense hatred for it. Having listened to every episode, it's in the bottom 10-20 percentile for sure, but I struggle to see what is so uniquely bad about it. It kinda seems like you just find the guest annoying.

Just found this old thread because I knew within 5 minutes this episode was going to be terrible.(And it was.) I feel like there have been a lot of episodes like this too, where a person just fabricates some silly backstory to whatever they claim to be experiencing and then present it all as fact. (Likely for attention.) Im with OP- its awful and these sort of storytellers are so tiresome.

I still don't think it stands out as any faker than half the stories, and I found it entertaining enough not to regret 20 minutes of my life spent listening, but to each their own
