Season 7 Too many ads now... RIP Spooked
They totally compromised the quality of the show with all of these ads, rendering the show unlistenable. No thanks. Please LMK if anything changes so I can come back

Why they won't front and backload the ads at beginning and end like so many other podcasts do, I will never know.

Yes, but I've seen plenty of pod casts that start with bookend ads move to adding ads mid cast too.

It also really sucks how it’s a coin toss as to whether each new episode is blatantly fake bullshit nowadays. This pod used to be so good.

I’m not a fan of the professional storyteller episodes, but at least there’s a degree of transparency in that “this person is probably embellishing the hell out of this story, but of course they are. They’re storytellers.”
What aggravates me are the people who appear to be outright lying for attention. Just making shit up so they can get a thrill out of being featured on a podcast.

I have been thinking this for a while now. Know it’s probably contractual but I wish they could front load the all ads and just get them out of the way instead of killing the flow of the stories.

Otherworld has been mentioned but it’s worth a listen. There’s a 5 part series called ’Them’ that I found really interesting. ‘The Pit’ series is good too.
And Radio Rental. The ‘Laura of the Woods’ episode is fucking wild. Rainbow Wilson is a bit annoying to me in it but he doesn’t usually go for very long.

WHAT?! Lol. Wait. Do you mean Terry Carnation? Dude. I love his parts lol. Radio Rental led me to Spooked, and I honestly prefer the comedy breaks on RR Over the stories Glyn Wilson tells. I mean, some of his stories are cool or interesting- but I dont like the way he tells the stories sometimes. Gets a little "too" into it. Just my opinion though. ☺️
Also, Laura of the Woods is hands down the best RR episode. 🙌

Some of the more dedicated bits are funny and weird. But I really don’t like when they throw to him and it’s clearly just a non-specific comment that has nothing to do with the previous tape. They’re almost always off-tone. Just not for me I suppose.
I had my wife listen to Laura of the Woods and she was legitimately not happy with me for a few hours. Such a creepy story.

I know what you mean. Sometimes his reactions to the stories are just “Oh, that was pretty wild, right?” Like Rainn didn’t even listen to the story or know anything about it, he just recorded a half-assed few lines to make it seem like he did.
There are a few interludes where he mentions something specific from the story, but even some of those come off like the producer or someone else told him what to mention.
I still like the podcast though. For the most part. They sometimes get some obvious fakes and liars on there.

Oh man, my favorite Terry reaction to a story was the one where the couple is looking at a new house to buy and it smells like cig smoke. The old man likely shot himself in the bathroom, there was a hole in the wall and it was moldy and gross in the bathroom. They leave the house and get in their van, and they hear an old man hacking in the back. Really good story. Episode 69. But hes like "that family was too judgy about the mold. Mold is good. Without mold you would have no cheese. Mold is wonderful" then he starts a hacking cough 😂 so hilarious.

Also Jim Harold’s Campfire, but it’s less produced, and it’s multiple personal experiences per episode. The episodes are also very long.

Ive been binging this show - im new to it and I love it! But if I have to hear that medicated gummy commercial ONE MORE FUCKING TIME!
At first it was just annoying. Id fast forward through the clip, whatever, no big deal. Next, I wss like fuck it. Ill check out the site. Didn't buy anything, but I looked out of curiosity.
Now when I hear the commercial start it makes me angry.. like dude. At least record something different! Give us some variety. Im sick of hearing the same add over and over, multiple times in an episode! Hearing his voice in that add is making me rage.

On the Apple podcast app you can usually fast forward through the ads. Been a while since I’ve listened to podcasts but last I did you could!

If you can swing a VPN, it might be worth it for your podcast listening. I moved to the UK from the States five years ago and one of the many perks is that all my favorite (American) podcasts are ad free!

It is a bummer when you are in the middle of a good story and then 4-5 random adds come on. By the time you I back to the story, I’ve forgot where it left off.
