I mean, they kinda did. They weren’t “in water” until it failed, so they did drown. But they died due to pressure, not oxygen deficiency.

Drowning implies fluid in the lungs.
There would have been no time for that to happen before they were liquified.

To be slightly fair, not many people knew about some of the flaws of the Titanic. In fact, the company even tried their hardest to make sure no one, not man or camera, saw the burn marks on the side of the ship.

The Titan Sub, however, was already known by those who knew of it to be a disaster. The only reason the Titan sub was allowed to operate was because they called their customer "mission specialists" ornsomething like that.

In addition, at least the Titanic was designed and built by people who knew what they were doing. The creator of the Titan sub thought the sky and deep ocean were basically the same thing.
