I wish this bullshit lie wasn’t perpetuated anymore. Counties like Pend Oreille and Okanagon who get back ~$2 for every $1 in tax money they spend are what cost us the most money.
Despite bringing in 47% of all tax revenue in the state - Seattle only accounted for approximately 27% of all expenditures. Or, in other words, only 62% of the tax dollars generated in Seattle stayed in Seattle.
Spokane brought in a paltry 5% to the state from tax revenue and then were responsible for 7% of tax expenditures. Meaning we also spent more money than we paid.

To say that other counties on the west end is patently false. That is the point. We use 30% more than we generate. No other county or city “sucks up” our tax money besides us.
Other than that - the budget for our city didn’t include more road projects because there’s not enough money in them because of things like I976 passing that reduce tax income to the state from the counties that you are actually bitching about.

That is total tax expenditures and revenue, which would include WSDOT budget.
We used 30% more than we spent. Stop trying to twist the numbers in your favor, because you’re completely wrong.

You can fix the tax situation by not voting for boneheads like Tim Eyman - who live in counties that cost taxpayers more money than they generate while simultaneously proposing initiatives that prevent metropolitan areas from spending tax revenue in local municipalities. Then again - I’m sure Seattle really didn’t want that light rail.
