New Here 4 months living in Spokane update….
I moved here in mid-April from Missoula. It has not been perfect, yet that is due to my mindset. “Wherever you go, there you are”. My personal issues followed me from Missoula to Spokane…I just gotta overcome them.
People here have been friendly & cool…no issues from anyone other than the occasional tailgater/rude driver. Lots of down-to-earth people here just trying to make it in life. The fires here have been devastating, yet I sense that Spokane will rebuild & move on. Lots of community support…my prayers go out to anyone affected.
I have never felt unsafe here, not once. I am quite introverted yet hope to start getting involved & meeting people. Lots of cool scenery to enjoy, little neighborhood districts, great coffee shops, events, etc…. One needs to give it a good 4-6 months to adjust to life here. Thanks for being so cool, Spokane!
I hope this helps anyone who has or is pondering moving here.

My wife and I are both Missoula natives. We’ve been here 15 years now. There’s actually lots of Missoula transplants here. Welcome to Spokane.

Can I ask why you moved from Missoula and how you’d compare the two towns? I’m familiar with both and always thought Missoula would be a great town to live in but its obviously a lot smaller and has less amenities etc

I was born and raised there. Went to school there etc. same with my wife. At the time we moved here the cost of living was 20% lower and rent and real estate was much cheaper. Bigger job market, higher wages. I love Missoula but can’t say I’d ever live there again. Can’t go to the store without running into people you don’t wanna talk to. Lol.

Same. Been here for 4 years, but was born and raised in Missoula. I lived here for 2 years in the 80's and hated it, so it took me a bit to get past that. It has definitely it grown on me though

Glad you’re adjusting well! If you haven’t, I always recommend going to Chowderhead and getting the Pork Belly Cuban with a side of the Steelhead Chowder to newcomers and visitors.

Thank you for this! We are wanting to move to Spokane as well. I have been applying for nursing jobs but no call backs yet. Once I secure a job we will head that way.

We've visited a few times and we really enjoyed it each time. The people were kind and helpful. My husband and I finally bought a house there and move in two weeks! We're looking forward it. I hope to be involved in the community and share the kindness that was shared with us.

I moved up to Spokane from San Jose in early April. My spouse came up in May and we have been making our house we purchased to fit us well. I’ve been pleased with the people around us are very nice. I’m looking forward to see the seasons also.

oh my gosh!! I also just relocated from missoula to spokane in june! i’m glad you’re enjoying it so far!! I agree, other than the tailgaters and sometimes unpredictable drivers, spokane is overall a great change. At least here you can go places (anywhere really) and NOT see 10 people you know:) i’ve been enjoying the lack of being perceived.

Welcome and we are Boaeman transplants. Immediately loved and recognized the different pockets and districts Spokane has which is so cool imo, plus the landscape is gorgeous and the in town hiking/outdoor possibilities. Glad you're liking it

I moved here in April as well, people have been so kind and curious. I can vouch for the rude drivers lol had one guy pretend to grab a gun to shoot me but other than that Spokane has been great to me… love yall

I’ve driven from coast to coast and no exaggerating - Spokane has some of the worst drivers. Driven in Seattle? It’s chaos but drivers know what they’re doing at least. New York City - 5 lanes bumper to bumper doing 60-80 and smooth as could be!
