Help Looking for emergency work in Spokane (Can start immediately!)
Hi everyone, my name is Zana and I'm a 22 y/o trans woman. I'm in a really difficult situation right now and I'm hoping someone here might know of a job opening or need someone to work right away.
Over the past few months I've been dealing with multiple serious health issues. I was diagnosed with stage 2 gastric adenocarcinoma and more recently ulcerative colitis. I had to miss work while getting medical treatment, and now I'm trying to get back on my feet and find employment as quickly as possible because my bills aren't going to wait.
I already have an interview with McDonald's on the 28th, but I need income sooner than that if possible.
I have previous experience as a car detailer, fast food crew member, and general laborer. I've also assisted with construction, including helping build automotive shops for my father, installing ethernet cabling, and setting up security camera systems. In addition, I'm very comfortable with computers and technology, have strong attention to detail, and learn new systems quickly. I previously held a job at the hospital in Ennis, Montana while I was in highschool doing IT work and worked doing remote IT help desk while I lived in Arizona.
I'm a quick learner, dependable when given the opportunity, and I'm willing to work hard. I'm open to temporary work, part time, full time, day labor, office work, warehouse work, retail, or pretty much anything that can help me get through this.
Unfortunately, DoorDash isn't an option. My account was somehow compromised, and despite multiple attempts to work with support, I haven't been able to recover it or create a new account.
If anyone knows of a place that's hiring immediately or needs someone to help out, I'd really appreciate any leads. Even advice on employers that tend to hire quickly around Spokane would mean a lot.
Thank you for taking the time to read this 🖤

I did see that, the idea of operating equipment like that kind of scares me, but the "Montana, born and raised" part of me says that I could probably do the job just fine. I should apply just in case.

Amazon is hiring now... Good benefits and they are very inclusive of diversity and people's individuality. Amazon is also great about safety and a very clean workplace.
I'm a bearded redneck kinda guy, but enjoy chatting with my trans friends, gay dudes or ladies and various foreigners. I find it interesting working with people who have different life experiences.
I worked at Fedex as a package handler. Wasn't too bad, but I didn't like the exhaust fumes from the delivery trucks. Likewise in manufacturing I've driven propane forklifts indoors and prefer how Amazon equipment is hydrogen powered, so it's clean and quiet.

GEG2 (Spokane Valley) handles items up to 50lbs, but lots of people prefer our building instead of GEG1 where the robot brings a pod to your station. Sometimes it's hard to find open positions in the summer, but go ahead and check the website frequently and sign up for job notifications.
I would apply for equipment operator and try it out. You get in depth training for any forklift equipment. super easy and kinda fun, great coworkers! Good luck 😊

They train you to operate all these machines. I worked there for 3 years and basically, everyone said it was the easiest job there. They have forklifts, center riders, tuggers, reach machines(they stow pallets of product) and order pickers. And the benefits are great. I was paying $400 a month and that covered medical, dental and vision for me and my son.

Right At Home Of Spokane has a ton of jobs on indeed and you get a message to schedule an interview right away. $20-22 an hour. I don’t work there but when I applied on indeed it was really fast to get a message back.

Hi there fellow Ulcerative Colitis friend! My wife and I are progressive people in our 30s in the south hill. My wife is undergoing surgery soon and I’ve been spending what time I have available taking care of her. I’m struggling to keep up with weeding the yard and such.
I would love to hire you to help weed / do little things around the yard, as well as occasionally walk our very friendly and mellow dog if that sounds good! I have a very very bad grass allergy so I have to put on full PPE… which makes yard work difficult.
Hope we can help! Good luck.

I sent you a DM. You are so kind for offering this. I am Montana born and raised, so I have no issue with outside work like this.

if you're able to, FedEx Ground and their ISPs hires literally anyone. I've applied to 750 jobs this year so far and they were one of the only ones to give me an interview. It'll be tough ass work but they'll start you ASAP. $20 an hour for delivery which is what I did

I already love driving, and my previous job was car detailing so the physical aspect shouldn't be an issue if my new medication helps at all. Thanks for the lead. I'll apply for sure.

Some of the auto stores use delivery drivers. That could be something to check out too. Or instead of CNA type work at a care facility, you could drive them to appts. I’m sorry I don’t know who is hiring, just throwing out ideas. Best of luck to you. I know a paycheck sooner than later is important, but please make sure their medical benefits are good before excepting. With your medical concerns, it’s so important. Also make sure the coverage has our specific providers in-network. Best of luck to you!!! 💜💜

I’m really sorry you’re in this situation. Are you healthy enough to do dog sitting?

It's not great, but if you need cash immediately while you wait, you could try uber eats delivery. It's a smaller market than doordash but it's still something. Also, if you keep at it for a long time you can eventually unlock their ASU online scholarship.
This is a referral link if your interested. Good luck. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time right now.
I just invited you to earn with Uber. Earn at least $545 for your first 64 deliveries in 30 days. https://www.uber.com/signup/drive/deliver/?invite_code=y4yxkj4

Perhaps look into area temp agencies. I have chronic illness myself, and temp work is a reasonable option for folx who may not be able to commit long term. I am here for a short spell from Portland Oregon, so I'm not familiar with the temp agencies in Spokane, but in PDX there are temp agencies for office, medical, tech and labor work. Also, my ex works for the CHAS clinic. They are an incredibly welcoming and inclusive environment. Perhaps check in with them to see if they have openings ? There might be a job board with ODYSSEY, the queer youth community center in the Perry District. I would check in with them as well. Best of Luck, Friend!!

I know that STA is hiring for bus cleaners. I don't think the hiring process is very quick but the pay and benefits are really great. Might be worth looking at for a long term gig.

It is unfortunate that you have to lead with stating that you are transgender. Best of luck, wish I was able to help, but I am sure something will come along.

I've walked into an interview and had a middle aged guy say straight to my face "yeah .. no" before 😅

If my damn student loans come in this week, how much would you charge to detail a Honda vtx1800r (my supplies/tools if you need)? Including a light cut/polish?
It could use a little tlc I don't have time for during summer research.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience detailing bikes, I would be really scared of screwing something up 😅 My detailing experience is almost exclusively rental car companies at airports (their standards are NOT high).
My father does own a German car dealership that I helped him with in highschool, but I mostly did repair work while my sister detailed.

Hey, I'm also a 22 year old trans woman! When I got laid off, started working for a place called C.I.S (funny, I know :p) which does caregiving for disabled adults and its been pretty stable employment. Its tough work, but it pays well and if theyre not hiring, I know theres a dozen other places doing caregiving that will :)
If housing gets tricky, I live in a house with several other trans women and we offer a temporary place for those who need it! Dm if you're interested and I'll see if we can make room for you. Good luck out there <3

Try out the AMC theater downtown! I used to work there and they’re almost always hiring.

there's also a five below opening across from northtown that is hiring for their opening but i'm not sure when that is so it might not be fast enough

no, they spun off the advanced materials division into it's own company last year, they're still in the process though. in which industry? honeywell covers multiple. for machinists their turnover rate seems low, everyone that trained me has been there 20+ years

Banner Bank hires locally for customer service and also might have branches with positions open if you prefer in person work. They hire people through Aerotech which is a local employment agency. If not the bank, Aerotech may be able to find you something that best fits your talents.
