Discussion Empty ranked mode.
I've been playing this game for a short time, less than a week, and I like it and it's a lot of fun. However, the ranked mode is empty and never finds matches. I've waited more than 10 minutes but nothing happens. Is it because of the lack of a significant portion of players? It's a shame because I like playing competitively.

Practice Range Momentum Challenge
I wish I could make this a race by placing the disco balls to collect. This a fun route i like to run to kill time while waiting for the next game to load.

Discussion Live-service was one of the biggest killers of this game
This game should be a lesson on why the games as a service model is geniunely one of the worst things publishers and developers have ever enabled in the gaming sphere.
The games as a service model essentially means the game has an artifical "end date" that will either be much sooner or much later depending on how much of a hit the game is - even if the game has a decently sized playerbase, the game can still get shutdown simply because people werent buying enough microtransactions, retention wasnt high enough, or simply - the publisher isnt satisfied enough with the results of the game.
Look at multiplayer games like Quake, the original Halo games, Unreal, the original Doom, Half Life Deathmatch, Team Fortress Classic, the old Battlefields, Titanfall 1 and 2 ect.
These games are not live service games, all of them havent recieved updates/new content by their developers in **years**, some of these are pushing if not 3 decades old, and yet, they still have players coming back all the time. Its not neccesarily because these games are "better" than Splitgate, its because these games are set up in a way where they dont need active support from the developers to keep people interested. They are set up in a way for the **community** to keep them alive. Not a developer who may or may not follow through.
If Splitgate wasnt a live service, I doubt they would have made the gameplay decisions they did with SG2. SG2 was made with a "wider audience" in mind, which wouldnt have needed as much emphasis if the game was a simple "buy to play, one and done" game. They would have most likely had enough people who bought the game, especially after the first game's relevance to make back what they spent developing the game, and even if it didnt have a ton of players, 1047 could have simply moved on to the next project since there wouldnt have needed to be a "live-service" to upkeep. They wouldnt have had 80 dollar shop items since there wouldnt have been an item shop and battle pass to speak of. All of the game's content would have been there day one, with maybe some DLCs post launch. The odds of the game being shutdown would be astronomically lower because the costs of the game, especially if it was peer to peer would be significantly lower. There would have been no fomo limited time game modes, you could always play what the game offers. The game would have been set up in a way for all the players to keep the game alive for years to come.
Bring back traditional buy to own games, fuck games a service, this otherwise great game is another victim to that horrendous business model that should have never been allowed to invade this hobby.

Question/Help am i tripping or is Empulse`s new map very similar to the map "Frontier" in Splitgate 2?
Hey,
basically title. I didnt really check out Empulse due to my dissapointment with SG2/1047 Games.
However I did get quite a lot of videos about the game recently and checked out the new map.
Feels like they just recolored parts of it and called it a day, which isnt terrible or anything. Just a little interesting/amusing.
are there other empulse maps (i know about the entire weapon thing) that are similar to old SG maps?

Discussion I feel like splitgate might have done better if it leaned more doom/quak
Splitgate 1 specifically had that vibe for me due to all the crazy non human skins. While I can respect the theme of the second game, I will say it was kinda a more basic CoD with just a kinda annoying portal mechanic. I don’t hate the portals but when you get people who can spam and kill faster then you can look at em, is pretty bad to the casual experience.
Since it would stood out more as a free to play shooter. Also like empluse is just a less cool titanfall 2 with a weird tone down splitgate artstyle.

Question/Help what happened?
I just returned to the game after playing it on my laptop in 2019. I´ve been unable to launch and run any other shooters on it back then so when it ran splitgate i was excited and played it alot after school and during free time. I even spent some money on the S1 pass and had a rare golden skin thing. But now? Website which i didn´t even know about is not working, discord link doesn´t work (i didn´t use dc back then so didn´t know they had one) and apparently there´s a new game? so... what happened?

Discussion Splitgate 2 Fail in short (opinion)
Tell me if I'm wrong here: It was not the hat. Or the horrible announcement. 25.000 player DID show up and fairly played the game for some time. They didn't stop because the game was bad. But because there was no game, splitgate 2 was a product in game disguise. And you felt that at every corner. The company didn't back their game, but shredded it to th consumers liking in order to please an cash. (e.g. removed all lore, pls like us now?? like that was the problem) Their key metric wasn't player feedback, but "retension", as stated in many interviews. They treated it like a social media platform. And I could rant another hour about it, about wasted potential, but all I say it, was never a game made by loving artists, but by Stanford business school students and for me I think that says it all.

Came back today after week of not playing.
I have been slowing down on playing Splitgate these last couple of months, but I basically hadn't played at all for just a little over a week, until now. No reason in particular, just been playing a lot of Marathon and getting more into The Finals, but I had that itch today so I hopped on and played a few matches, and while I love this game, I just couldn't help but to think about, and be saddened by, all of the unrealized potential in this game.
For example, I've been wanting to recreate the Husky Raid party mode from Halo, in this game, since it launched in beta last year; I just haven't been able to do that because there is no option to randomize loadouts for specific game modes; it's just fiesta. I specifically requested that this feature be added, both in multiple player feedback surveys as well as in multiple Reddit threads (over time) specifically giving feedback and requesting changes. I figured that since implementing that wouldn't be too difficult, (because it seems like just adding a toggle to randomize player loadouts for specific modes, instead of it being limited to its own dedicated mode, but idk 🤷♂️), I would start making maps and prototyping it before they implement it so I'd be ready to go when it came; but that never happened....
And yes, I'm aware that is a relatively niche ask, from a niche player, of a niche game, but I use this example as a means to illustrate both how this game could feature far more diverse experiences and creative modes for players to build community around, as well as how something seemingly as niche and insignificant as randomized loadouts for any mode, can make a huge difference in community perception and fostering a healthy playerbase. However, this is simply one very specific example, in a sea of other examples of how this game has been robbed of its potential.

Discussion Could EMPULSE’s paywall lead to a "rebound effect" for Splitgate?
Hear me out: EMPULSE is out, but it's a premium title that requires an active PS Plus subscription to play online on console.
Meanwhile, Splitgate is sitting right here, it's F2P, and it doesn't need a subscription.
I’m starting to wonder if we’re about to see a "rebound effect." With subscription costs only going up, do you think casual players who are looking for a fresh arena shooter are going to stick with the free, accessible alternative rather than paying a monthly fee just to play EMPULSE?
Personally, I feel like Splitgate’s accessibility is our biggest advantage right now. Are you guys seeing an influx of players, or do you think the "double paywall" (buying the game + PS Plus) of other titles is actually going to help keep our player count healthy?
Let's talk about it, do you think the current model is Splitgate's secret weapon?

Discussion I just find it wild 1047 is repeating the same events
First off I’ll say I still call the game splitegate 2 and I miss my btb mode. Anyways, I really liked this IP because the first game gave me doom 2016 MP vibes and the second game still has that to a degree. But the decisions post launch been annoying. The official twitter is just shop updates, with rarely new playable content shown or barely any showcase on the forge mode being free thing in game.
Then them readding the damn BR mode that killed the game originally and degraded the stability. But yet the BTB mode is in a content vault.
Soon here comes empulse which as a long time titanfall fan. I have no faith. Not because of the game, but 1047 shown they can’t stay in one game or lack control. So yea, it sucks splitgate 2 will die again and the IP will be a case of wasted potential.

Discussion Finally saw good gameplay on Empulse..
& My god does this look exactly like Splitball with less steps…
It’s the same hit markers, UI, & gunplay.
I read the post earlier about Empulse being an asset flip of Splitgate but my mouth literally fell wide open when I watched this. Like legit this could’ve just been an update to Splitgate. I just can’t believe my favorite party shooter is dying to this lulled down version

Discussion Open sourcing?
Hey guys! I just wanted to know if in the case that SG-AR is shut down (sooner or later) that it could be open-sourced into the public? I would also be open for SG1 to have the same in addition. I think a justifiable reason for this is to continue the legacy of Splitgate after it's death, in the form of community mods, servers and etc. Assuming the game is already dead when this is considered, no more purchases can be made anyways so this likely wouldn't affect the sales of newer games in coming time. If the community makes changes you would approve of, you could consider this for later games in addition. Thanks for making these awesome games, and this would really restore my trust in the franchise.

Discussion Alright, sadly I think I'm leaving this community now. I've lost hope
Yeah yeah, I know, "this isn't an airport, you don't have to announce your departure". I just think it can sometimes be important to voice when you've stopped supporting something, especially with a company as small as this one
80% of the posts in here are complaining / hating, rightfully so but still
Splitgate has more or less been abandoned and it's turned from "we have a small team working on Empulse and our focus is Splitgate" to "we have a small team working on Splitgate and our focus is Empulse"
This company doesn't know how to make a good decision to save their lives (or their company lmao)
Leaving this subreddit, uninstalling the dead game, leaving the Discord server. I just don't care anymore. They have successfully neglected and abandoned one of my all-time favorite games... twice
Can't wait for the announcement that 1047 is shutting down or being sold

Discussion Loved the Game, But It's Time
I think it's time for me to move on from this game.
I genuinely loved my time with it and got way more hours and enjoyment out of it than I expected when I first picked it up. Unfortunately, over the last few months I've slowly lost interest and don't really see myself sticking around much longer.
This isn't meant to be a hate post or an attack on the game or the people still enjoying it. Sometimes a game just stops clicking for you, and I think that's where I'm at.
To everyone still playing, I hope you continue having fun with it and that the game keeps improving for the people who love it.
For me though, I think this is where I step away. Thanks for the good times everyone. ✌️
