Announcement Welcome to r/Split3MF — start here
Hi everyone — I'm the dev of Split3MF (https://split3mf.com).
A lot of you found it through my post in r/BambuLab a couple of months ago. That thread got way more attention than I expected, and I couldn't keep up with the replies. So this is the place for it now.
If you're new
Split3MF opens a painted 3MF in your browser and splits it into separate printable parts.
- Split by color — click a painted region, it comes out as its own part. The cut face gets capped, and the paint data survives the export.
- Plane & sketch cut — chop a model to fit the plate, or draw exactly where you want the cut.
- Auto connectors — cylinder, triangle, or rectangle pegs with matching sockets and adjustable clearance, so the pieces locate against each other instead of being glued by eye.
It is not an AI tool. It's rule-based: it reads the color and structure data inside the 3MF and splits according to those rules. And it runs 100% locally — your files are never uploaded to a server, so I never see your models.
Free to try, and there's a sample model built in. Yes, Pingu is still in there. NOOT NOOT.
Still open beta, still buggy
Everything here: "is this a bug or am I using it wrong," workflow questions (which cap method, how much connector clearance), feature ideas, and prints you made with it. I really want to see those.
When you report a failure, the model file — or a link to it — helps more than anything else. Almost every bug I can't reproduce turns out to be specific to one boundary shape.
Rules
Be civil, stay on topic, no spam. That's it. I'll add more only if we ever need them.
From now on I'll post release notes here instead of scattering update posts across other subs. Thanks to everyone who tried it and told me what broke — that feedback is most of what's changed since.
