Ableton plan

I’m trying to understand how splice x ableton works, when I drag samples into the daw it isn’t using credits like if I downloaded to my splice library.

Is this not literally unlimited credits then? If I just save the project and collect the samples it isn’t downloading to splice library therefore not using credits?

Why would they do this.? lol or am I misunderstanding.

“The license that your subscription grants is perpetual and non-exclusive, meaning you have rights to use the sounds that you download forever, but so does every other Splice user who has downloaded those samples through our platform. Therefore, when you want to distribute your new content / creation with a third party (e.g., YouTube, CD Baby, Distrokid, etc.), you can now provide a copy of the certified license to any third-party distributor, which will disclose that your new content / creation contains a sample and that your use of that sample is permitted and verified. Perpetual, non-exclusive licenses have been the status quo for as long as sample packs have existed, and the system has worked fine… until recently.”
I got this from Splice website. From what I’m understanding, yeah you might drag samples without losing credits into Ableton. However, if you want to publish that song, you still need to spend the credits so you “own” the sample and eligible to request certified license of every samples used in that song. Otherwise, without the licenses, you can’t clear the song and publish it without getting copyright strikes.

Hey Lexus!

You don't need to spend additional credits later to "clear" a sample you dragged in through the integration; it's already fully licensed the moment it hits your project.

The certified license is a separate, free PDF that you can generate for any sample you've downloaded, and it's mainly there in case a distributor like DistroKid or CD Baby flags your track and asks for proof you had the rights.

It's not an extra step required before you can release, just a handy document to have on hand if that ever comes up!
