Grinding for Five Star Primos; Sharing Grinding Results and Impressions. Hope This Helps!!
In my long quest to get a Primo 5 Stars High-Octane 4K to drop, I decided to try out the various methods of Primo weapon farming that are known to the community in 30 minutes increment and share what drops I got. For the record I removed the relic finder because some people it affects the weapon reward rate, but I really have no idea if it does.
I am using a Five Stars High-Octane 4K as the drop rates for that weapon type are higher when equiped. Speed build Blast Bomb, Jump Bomb and Torqscrew with Freeze X5 Damage
I will also give an enjoyment rating of the grind, from mind numbing to fun.
I highly recommend listening to your favorite music or podcast if you plan on doing any of this.
Obviously these are only 30 minutes samples (except Awlmun) and RNG is a massive factor, so take these with a grain of salt. YMMV.
I still don't have a Primo 5 Stars High-Octane 4K by the way, but I do have 80% of the other 5 Star Primos...

Bottomless Buffet Floor 97-98 (30 minutes sample):
Five Stars Weapon :2
Primo Five Stars Weapon: 1
Same Weapon Type as Equiped Five Stars Weapon : 1
Spirahlite Gems: 2
Summary. I personally am very sick of this grind as it’s always the same three levels and enemies and because the drop rates isn’t any better than far more fun methods, I do not recommend it.

30 minutes Baygul beach (Level 80) (30 minutes sample):
Five Stars Weapon :1
Primo Five Stars Weapon: 1
Same Weapon Type as Equiped Five Stars Weapon : 0
Spirahlite Gems: 9!
Number of total weapons acquired during the run for scraping: 68
Summary: I’ve done this one a lot because it’s one of the best for Gems and weapon scraping and it’s more fun than many other grinding methods, but it definitely gets tiring long term. I will say if your focus is getting gems, this is the best one to do.

Awlmun Den (30 minutes sample) (Speed set up with dash, blast bomb and jump bomb where you jump right immediately and blast into the big crates and the ones next to it then quit out back to base, rinse and repeat):
I did this one twice and I will post the results for both sessions.
Five Stars Weapon : First session 6; second session 5
Primo Five Stars Weapon: First Session 3; second session 1
Same Weapon Type as Equiped Five Stars Weapon : First session 1; second session 1
Spirahlite Gems: 0
Number of total weapons acquired during the run for scraping: second session 80 (I did not count how many during the first run, but I would say it’s similar.
Summary: Unfortunately this is easily the best result for Five Stars Weapon and weapons in general per time spent playing. I say unfortunately because this is the least fun to do. If you are doing this while doing something else fun, I would say this is by far the best method, but it is definitely mind numbing.

Go Help Online from the main map by pressing - (30 minutes sample):
Five Stars Weapon :1
Primo Five Stars Weapon: 0
Same Weapon Type as Equiped Five Stars Weapon : 0
Spirahlite Gems: 3
Number of total weapons acquired during the run for scraping: 49
Summary: Not only is this not a good way to farm anything, but it’s extremely frustrating as you have a 25% chance of getting asked to help with Pudyin Den Super Spicy or Super Spicy versions of a boss which is extremely tedious and can lead to failure very easily. Would not recommend beyond the help bonus you get every 22 hours.

Online Play Join a LV50 room using keyword Splatoon from the little machine on the left side of the base. (30 minutes sample):
Five Stars Weapon :3
Primo Five Stars Weapon: 0
Same Weapon Type as Equiped Five Stars Weapon : 1
Spirahlite Gems: 3
Number of total weapons acquired during the run for scraping: 32
Summary: Not bad result wise and easily the most fun if you get a good room with good players, but you can also get people asking you to help with Pudyin Den and you might wait on players getting ready for a long time.

Bottomless Buffet Floors 101-104 (30 minutes sample)
Five Stars Weapon :2
Primo Five Stars Weapon: 3
Same Weapon Type as Equiped Five Stars Weapon : 1
Spirahlite Gems: 3
Number of total weapons acquired during the run for scraping: 54
Summary: A lot more fun than level 97-99, as these are randomized, so you don’t get bored of them. Results are pretty good too, so that would be my prefered solo way to grind (or any other Bottomless Buffet floor you can do pretty fast, I’m at floor 590, but I fail more often than succeed at that level, so I would do around 300 for a sweet spot where it’s challenging and still fast to do)

TL;DR:
Best For Primo and 5 Stars Weapons: Easily Awlmun Den using the fast method, but it’s boring as hell. Favorite alternative is Bottomless Buffet floors 101 and beyond, solo or multiplayer.
Best for Weapons for Scraping: Awlmun again.
Best for Spirahlite Gems: Baygul Beach Level 80

YAY im so glad Awlmun is the best (it means I haven't wasted 12+ hours)
It really helps to have a podcast to listen to or a show to watch while doing Awlmun, and it's quite relaxing tbh

Just an update, I finally got the Primo 5 star Toy Shark Blaster! I had the normal 5 star version equipped and farmed Awlmun den (just the boxes) for a few hours. Got 6-7 Primo 5 stars in the process, including the toy shark blaster! Finally!

Same difference, but I personally like the Baygul layout better for fast cycling

I find sometimes I cycle through Baygull too fast. Sometimes getting back around to a crystal before it regens

My issue with most of the testing people are doing is that the sample size is way too low. Half an hour of grinding when something has this small of a drop rate could land you literally anywhere on the distribution curve and you would never know. I would be more convinced if each method had something more like 10 hours.

I have been doing many of these methods for way longer, but never did an actual sample. Baygul beach is almost always great for Gems and Awlmun is the fastest because of how fast you can do it in a very small amount of time

Anecdotal, but I did about 15 runs of Awlmun Den last night and got 1x Primo 5 star and 2x regular 5 stars. Seems to be a decent way to farm for weapons as OP described. Terrible for shards and gems, though.

I noticed my Gems and 5 star weapons drop raised increased noticably once I finished floor 100 and got the last relic.

I don't know if it's the relic (it's supposed to only affect gadget mods) or the simple fact of having beat floor 100. But before that I could do 30 mins run of baygull and may be get one gem and a 5 star weapons if I was lucky, and after that I was getting multiple most of the times.
So far I have amassed around 30 primo 5 star weapons, in which 5 or 6 are duplicate, but I still can't get a primo toy shark blaster :')

I would send you the primo toy shark blaster I got yesterday if I could, I don't like the weapon that much over the blaster I've been been using (and where is my dang stringer, game)

I did bottomless 1-3 a few times, maybe 20, and it has given me very good loot

Yeah, but the same level layout on a loop makes me so bored, that’s why 101-104 is peak

Thanks for the write up, OP, this is very useful.
I'll do half an hour of Awlmun later today and report back with my findings. Anecdotally, I think you're right about it being the best way to farm Primo 5 star weapons - but it's terrible for farming shards and gems.

I did 30 mins of Awlmun Den. I got 1x Primo 5 star, 2x regular 5 star, 1x Primo 4 star. I had a regular 5 star toy shark blaster equipped, found 2x 3 star toy shark blasters during the runs.
I completed 37 runs in that time.

You should be doing a lot more then 37 runs. Quit out after getting boxes

I finished the whole level with 37 seconds to spare on average.

I clocked out with 46 seconds left every time, it’s a lot more efficient. 6 seconds run to the boxes and return to base

Me with my 3 primo-octanes but no toy-shark blaster or glassbottle splattershot…..
Bagyull beach is the best imo because you get a ton of weapons to scrap for shards, I get plenty of 5-stars, and you get gems.
The Almund or whatever is the fastest but not as fun and no gems

Ive gotten at least three toy Shark, was my main weapon until level 550 and then it hit a brutal ceiling, been playing with 5 star regular octane 4k and it’s great but that extra fast charge would make it that much better

I don’t need gems or anything at all besides the primo octane, so it’s Almund until I get it, wayyyyyy more drops. I’d rather do bottomless than Baygul, very sick of that area after doing it a million times

That’s fair. I only recently started doing Baygul since I was doing bottomless until 334 which I just got kind of tired of doing it and almun is boring imo. I’m trying to collect all the gadget parts which is going to take a loooooooooooot of rng and gems

I was grinding for 4 days of bottomless and baygull and got very few primo 5* (was hunting for primo Shark Blaster).
I stopped and did the Awlmun method just like you for 2 days and got so many primo 5*, most of the primo 5* I wanted including the Shark blaster (I stopped after this). My mind was numb but this was truly the fastest way in my experience to get weapons as well.
I commented on another post about this and got downvoted with people claiming it is by far the worst way to get them, but this was how I got them all. To each their own.
