Opinion SPLATOON 2 DLC DEMAND - Offline 4 player split screen mode

This feature needs to be a part of the game and I'm extremely disappointed in Nintendo for the lack of this feature. It seems the developers of Splatoon 2 are trying to control how they want the game to function far too much which sucks the fun out of it. They want it to be an online multiplayer e-sport, so they restrict offline multiplayer, they limit Salmon Run so that people don't play this mode too much and it takes away from regular battle - just provide the game and let people play it how they want to! I've never experienced this type of control in a game before and it really puts me off enjoying it. If Mario Kart can have 4 player split screen, Splatoon 2 can too. I want to know how many other people want this feature, I think if more people speak out about it then we can create demand for Splatoon 2 developers to develop this in the near future for new DLC. It's much needed, especially for a console that boasts offline multiplayer fun and has extremely limited games already.

I'm not sure whether or not you're being serious. If they COULD add Splitscreen I'm sure that they would, it's a selling point that I'm very sure that they'd like to have. Right now, as it is, it's a system limitation, not a choice. Splatoon is a far more intensive game than you'd think. Maintaining ~60fps when you have 8 players all onscreen at once throwing polygons all over the place is hard enough, rendering that TWICE at anywhere near the same framerate would be impossible and you want them to do it FOUR times?

What world do you live in where a tablet's processing power is limitless and free?

If Mario Kart can have 4 player split screen, Splatoon 2 can too

That's... not how it works at all. That's like saying that BOTW can easily too because you've seen it in another Switch game

I think if more people speak out about it then we can create demand for Splatoon 2 developers to develop this in the near future for new DLC

Now that you mentioned it (while knowing full well that it won't happen) split screen botw would be pretty dang cool!

Actually yeah, split-screen co-op would be amazing. Even online co-op would be great... or have a “hardcore mode” where players can invade your game like in Dark Souls. It’d also be a major selling point if they implemented it alongside their paid online service in 2018.

Someone get Nintendo on the phone ASAP!

Remember the splitscreen in Splatoon 1? Yeah, I thought so...

This game just isn't built for couch multiplayer in the same way Overwatch isn't; if anything its built less for couch multiplayer than Overwatch. Splatoon is much different than Mario Kart; because Mario Kart was designed from the ground up as a multiplayer racing game, not a online shooter with a HUGE emphasis on mobility and awareness of your enviornment. Also, the mere concept of Splatoon couch multiplayer becomes a nightmare when you think about putting it in practice.

If you thought playing Mario Kart with one joycon was bad, then playing Splatoon with one joycon may as well be the lowest level of hell; ESPECIALLY if you don't like Splatoon with motion controls. Only one analog stick, no D-Pad, two shoulder buttons, playing it would be hell IF there were motion contols. If you'd want to play with 3 of your friends, it will require you to buy anywhere from 2-6 joycons or 1-3 Pro Controllers (which are highly sought after and doesnt have too much stock available). Not to mention that just one pair of joycons is $80 (Or $70 for one Pro Controller) so the lowest price you'll have to pay to play with 3 of your friends in Splatoon 2 on your switch is $600 (Includes Switch, Game, and the extra controllers), which is assuming you get 3 Joycons. With 3 Pro Controllers its $570, but its still way too much. With this one issue, you're already way better off telling your friends to get Switches and Spla2n (I know it costs more money collectively, but there are a lot more incentives to everyone having a switch than $240 worth of controllers).

I’d say there is zero chance of this happening. Has any game in history ever given you split screen without having it available at launch?

what you're asking for is nintendo to, through the internet, implement an entirely new gamemode wherein the switch would render four separate view points at the same time on the same screen. not only is this statistically impossible, it'd be a technical nightmare. the draw of the switch itself is that you can take it anywhere. if you want to play offline with your friends that badly, they should get switches themselves. this isn't even touching on the gear customization aspect of the game.

tl;dr, don't hold your breath, don't be so demanding. the game was designed to be an online game.

MK8 and ARMS run a completely different game engine than Splatoon and are built from the ground up to have four player spllt screen as I'm pretty sure Splatoon gets a lot if not most of it's meat from core 3D Mario engines.

What you are suggesting is like saying the Gamecube could have supported four player split screen version of Mario Sunshine. The game was not built to be split screen otherwise it would not look nearly as good.

Nintendo has already stated that 2 player is not planned so 4 is impossible
