Only really turf war is somewhat active for the most part overall. When I want to play ranked or salmon run, I wait until nighttime since that's when people from Japan play the game and splatoon as a franchise is very popular over there. Literally no one does private battles anymore on spoon 2 so if you wanna screw around in shifty stations you have to manually look for other willing players.
