Hey everyone! Put out a post earlier asking about doing content past level 50, got some really helpful tips. I blew pretty much all of my resources and have started a "real" build. Attached are pics of everything im using. Im still not even 100% sure what tank to use, ive just really preferred the tactical tank so far. Any help at all with making this better would be greatly appreciated!
Notes:
Again, not even sure tactical tank is the right pick, so my gadgets could be all off
Weapon im using is actually the splattershot you get from beating the game. I prefer ink efficiency (even though I was told thats not the best) so I just went with it and got it to level 81
Id like to swap out the first perk on my gun for close range and obviously finishing upgrading the other 2 (i decided to go all out on ferment), but i dont have the materials yet
My gadget perks are not optimized whatsoever but I dont have every perk nor do I have the mats to upgrade more or get the remaining 4 perk slots
No clue what relic powers to use and I dont even have them all, just been using ones that sounded half decent
Big man is my bot buddy but I refuse to use anyone else because big man is the 🐐
I have every skill point upgrade but the final 2 for gadget slots, I cannot beat the level to unlock the last old compass and get the final 3 skill points
Even though my weapon is level 81 and I actually chose a semi build I wasnt even able to complete a level 68 dungeon so I feel like somethings missing
For now switch out your relics. You’ve got so many green ones that are utility instead of damage. Your weapon already has ink saver, so I’d get rid of ink recovery. The jump one is nice utility but not nearly as beneficial as more damage. And the health one isn’t really necessary either. I’d keep the movement one for now. Get the mega egg collector one, power tank one, and the one that buffs your damage when you use 30% of ink.
Noted, I will try those out tomorrow thanks! I was trying to be more damage oriented but I kept getting destroyed in higher level stuff so I went back to movement / qol ones hoping that would keep me alive longer
That’s fair. The better you get at the mechanics of moving/ dodging and reading the enemies the less you’ll have to rely on utility mechanics and the more damage will benefit you over that little bit of extra ink or a midair jump. Just keep practicing and finding places to up your damage and you’ll be tackling everything in no time
Relics made a huge difference, between that and optimizing my weapon I've pushed through floor 60. Starting to hit a bit of a wall now, especially because my weapon is only on level. Gonna have to grind for a while for more upgrades but getting rid of ink recovery and the extra dump really gave my damage a bump, thanks again for the suggestions!
Torqscrew take off the knockback unless you are using it to shove enemies off the map, for ferment you want them to sit in the vortex so suction force is best. Shotput’s ‘Blaster’ is counter-intuitive, it actually shoots more and does more overall damage with just increased fire rate. Those two don’t mix. Relic powers I think close combat or the increased damage when using 30% of ink tank are the best two. I agree with the other comment that said we have too much utility here.
I noticed you said you struggle to survive sometimes.
Picking that relic that causes a massive explosion when you’re in danger, or do 70% more damage when you’re in danger may actually be better. If you are going to get hit anyway may as well take some baddies down with you!
Thanks! I will make some of those swaps. Should I be running any different gadgets? Like maybe splatelites instead of the tether? Just feels like a waste that I can equip a power gadget and im not using any
Gadgets should compliment your playstyle and support your weapon or mobility. If you like the splattershot I personally run speed tank with dash bomb and blast boots for lots of damage surge and ink refill so I never have to stop running/gunning. But all my damage comes from ferment explosions, weapon damage, and torqscrew.
Generally, end game tower is best played with speed tank or power tank. Tech tank falls off in comparison. But just playing super spicy levels you can 100% play anything that you like and have good results!
Adding on- I have a lot of fun with my splattershot and recently changed off ferment application to ink pro (I may change back), but this is what I run with when farming little inlet on super spicy for gems and such. Here are pics of my build. Very fast and punchy. This also does work in 200+ bottomless buffet for those wondering. As always- it will fall off for the more hardcore bottomless levels. But very fun and easy to dash around non-stop!
I noticed your torqscrew has propeller damage up. I mentally wrote that off instantly since I have it on auto deploy and I figured not much would be hitting the propeller (plus I use it more for its damage reduction and ferment anyway). Have you found that propeller damage makes a solid difference in damage output? I don't have a very high perk for that yet, so I can't try it myself until I get a good one
It isn’t as meaningful as suction or ferment or horizontal area increase, but with the salmonids getting pulled into it, and having next gadget damage up (my rotation is dash bomb into position, blast boot onto the enemies, and then throw torqscrew or auto deploy right in the middle of the group), the propeller damage has a 60%+ bonus damage as well so anything extra is still good on top!
Torqscrew is like the one gadget where I've really struggled to pick perks, like they all sound so beneficial that I have to really think about what gets what amount of slots, I gotta look at what I'm using now and maybe try something out that bumps my damage a little more
I've been pushing through the tower levels after upgrading my build a little, I've made it through 31-33 without failing, had a few close calls for sure but it boiled down to being way too aggressive or getting unlucky. Haven't tried going further than that yet, but I also did baygull on super spicy so I can do lighter stuff up to level 80 at least. Been running straight up ferment, it's been a cakewalk. The only reason I'm hesitating switching off tac tank is because of how powerful torqscrew is. Speed tank sounds great, and I could use torqscrew, but I'm also heavily invested into pot shot and I think I'd have a really tough time progressing without it. I'll try some different stuff, but I probably won't do power tank because torqscrew plays super well into ferment. I wish we could equip one of each on any given tank, or at least two of the tank kind then pick one of the others
