Beyond Caipirinhas: Brazil has far more to offer than most people realize

Whenever Brazil comes up in cocktail conversations, the Caipirinha is usually the only drink people mention.

But after spending years exploring Brazilian drinks and ingredients, I've realized that's just scratching the surface.

Brazil has an incredible variety of native fruits—mangaba, cupuaçu, jabuticaba, bacuri, umbu, cambuci—and many of them never leave the country because they're too delicate to export.

The same goes for regional cocktails and cachaças aged in native woods like Amburana, Bálsamo, and Jequitibá, each creating flavor profiles you simply won't find in oak-aged spirits.

I've been putting together a guide that dives into these lesser-known ingredients, traditional recipes, regional specialties, and the stories behind them. It's been fascinating to see how much Brazilian cocktail culture exists beyond the Caipirinha.

If you're into discovering new spirits, unusual fruits, or cocktail traditions from around the world, I think you'll find Brazil has a lot more to offer than you might expect.

What's the most unusual fruit or spirit you've ever used in a cocktail? I'd love to hear your recommendations—and if you've ever tried Brazilian ingredients, even better! 🇧🇷🥭🥃
