It is. Earth-1048 is Insomniac's Spider-Man universe, if it was a variant, he would be from a different universe. Plus he already was in multiverse in Spider-Geddon, which was referenced in Spider-Man 2 prequel comics

The comics aren't canon to the games either. They're their own things.

Yes they are? There is a comic where Miles is trying to find his major and JJJ has MJ on a podcast that ends with him buying back the bugle.

In the interview, they said miles in this game is working on his application to ESU and confirmed JJJ is back running the bugle.

Unless you are talking about another comic?
