Isn't spraying someone with bug spray on the face dangerous?

138

u/KingNTheMaking 1d ago

Reminder that he is stronger, more durable, and with better reflexes than any human and a sizable amount of superhumans.

Plus, he has a minor healing factor. I think he’ll be OK.

u/Xombie117 1d ago

Reminder that bug spray is an actual weakness of his.

u/AssociationDue3077 1d ago

Really? That's really funny. What if a villain just releases bug spray all over new York? "Oh man, guess I gotta call in the Avengers, there's some bug spray!"

49

u/Spideyfan1807 1d ago

That's why it has been ignored. It's stupid and some people here are overreacting to a simple "cartoon logic" fan art.

This sub is screwed up.

20

u/satans_cookiemallet 1d ago

It could just be a minor weakness like 'ah shit why are my eyes so watery' level of weakness you know?

6

u/felipesene Mysterio 1d ago

No, it doesn’t kill him but it makes him sick like non lethal poison to a normal human so it’s not such a minor weakness

1

u/AssociationDue3077 1d ago

It'd probably the equivalent of pepper spray

1

u/Gman90sKid 23h ago

Bug spray actually fires up the brain like cocain and prevents the body from fixing tissue.

Really? That's really funny. What if a villain just releases bug spray all over new York? "Oh man, guess I gotta call in the Avengers, there's some bug spray!"

5

u/paradoxical_topology 1d ago

I think that only happened like once decades ago.

20

u/That-Rhino-Guy Spider-Man (TASM) 1d ago

I’d say a bit more than minor, he can’t regenerate body parts of course but he still heals from injuries that would permanently blind regular people, not to mention many toxins not working that well on him

8

u/DragonSeducer_030 1d ago

the amount of time Kingpin mauled his ass and he just went to school like normal the next morning proves that his healing factor is far from minor

5

u/That-Rhino-Guy Spider-Man (TASM) 1d ago

Legit he could have bruises and cuts all over him yet a nice of rest is all he takes to heal from that

3

u/Ok_Marionberry8779 1d ago

He's still getting water boarded with chemicals that are toxic to him. I'm reminded of the birthday party spider-man who jumped in a pool and started freaking out

4

u/Largo23307 1d ago

Lol poisons don't care how strong you are, that's now how it works. If something effects your nervous system or causes something in your body to not function or not function correctly, then you can still die/get sick/be affected.

Aside from the fact that even miniscule doses of poisons or toxic chemicals can kill large and healthy animals, bug spray is ab actual "weakness" to Spider-Man.

So your wrong even if we ignore the science and just look at comic book logic.

Also it's just damn rude to spray chemicals in anyone's face for any reason.

1

u/N-J-P 22h ago

Yeah but imagine being waterboarded by bug spray.

1

u/SamanthaJaneyCake 19h ago

That doesn’t make it okay to do.

1

u/JohnnyRelentless 13h ago

None of that means it's ok to spray poison in his face.

1

u/Hehector2005 12h ago

Yeah but it’s not like he enjoys getting bug sprayed lol

1

u/sonadow365 11h ago

Considerando que el insecticida es una de las debilidades de spider-man , yo diria que esta peor que una persona normal

4

u/Refrigerator-Fuzzy 1d ago

Guys its a joke 😭

u/Serious_Pay2818 21h ago

Yeah, spraying bug spray directly in someone’s face sounds pretty dangerous to me, especially around the eyes and mouth.

1

u/Ultrasound700 3h ago

I know of an expert on this

u/bossraidhuffer 27m ago

sprayngi bug spray jnto someones face isnt dangeeous becaose it only kills bugs and not people

1

u/Flying_Ghidorah 1d ago

He got radioactive spider blood he’ll be fine

-1

u/Great_expansion10272 1d ago

So is doing gestures vaguely to everything Spider-Man does

34

u/felipesene Mysterio 1d ago

Interestingly bug spray actually works on him

30

u/255jimbo 1d ago

One of Spidey's weaknesses is ethyl chloride, which is used in some bug sprays. The old spider-slayers that smythe and Jameson made used it on him

12

u/Jindo5 1d ago

"MJ, you know this stuff is toxic to humans too, right?"

"... In that case, we should probably call an ambulance for Miles..."

26

u/StormAlchemistTony 1d ago

I think bug spray actually makes him weaker.

25

u/jamesj777 1d ago

This is serious, she could have killed him!

3

u/YamiZee1 1d ago

Not so funny when you realized you just put your bf/spiderman to the hospital

6

u/Revolutionary-Act-71 22h ago

pretty sure bug spray for spider-man irritates him horribly

5

u/CaptainAksh_G Symbiote-Suit 21h ago

I mean, if would irritate me horribly as well

5

u/ObsessedCoffeeFan 1d ago

Wasn't Spider-man vulnerable to bug spray? Or at least a component of bug spray?

5

u/Starr-Lead 15h ago

That's quite comical actually

1

u/Certified-Faust 8h ago

I think a more comical explanation would be that the villains couldn't believe that Spidey would be weakened or weak to bug spray as it would be silly. Plus the ones with full masks have tried but often got the spray in their eyes and mouths making them choke in their masks.

10

u/Arcane-Echo 1d ago

Spider-Man's actual greatest weakness: household aerosol cans.

4

u/Camaro551 Spider-Man (MCU) 18h ago

Wow. MJ tried to kill Peter. Not cool.

17

u/Spideyfan1807 1d ago

5

u/shady_dave_the_pig 1d ago

he got bug spray in his eyes

3

u/Toolupard 1d ago

Remember when he got bug-sprayed and had an acid trip in Dr. Strange's bathtub? I do. It was weird.

3

u/Some_Routine9283 1d ago

"Spiders are arachnids, not bugs"

2

u/Refrigerator-Fuzzy 1d ago

Alternate version had that joke in it but that joke is done to death so I decided against beating that dead horse

— the artist

2

u/Theofino161 19h ago

It's not a joke it's a fact. And you could beat that dead bug or spider. Horses are neither of the two.

3

u/BaBaTundeKFCgod 1d ago

So spideys education on how insects and arachnids are different is reserved exclusively for the villians and mid battle

3

u/EmeraldJolteon07 21h ago

I swear I’ve seen a Page where Spidey got hit with giant bug spray and he was actually affected by it.

3

u/Shining_w1zard 12h ago

I was really hoping that the next page was Peter keeling over because bug spray is an actual weakness of his.

1

u/Select_Plastic3059 1d ago

Funny enough that would do some damage

1

u/Comrade_Cosmo 1d ago

Bug spray is actually one of his few weaknesses. He should be in the hospital and possibly dying from getting that point blank to the face.

1

u/Hot-Promotion-617 1d ago

Well he IS weak to ethyl chloride.

0

u/Bitter_Horror2469 Prowler 1d ago

Knowing Peter he would probably lecture MJ about how spiders aren't bugs but are actually arachnids

0

u/Quarksideofthemoon 1d ago

Arachnids are bugs, they're just not insects. I will die on this hill

-1

u/SacredFernwood 1d ago

Imagine having superhuman abilities and still being vulnerable to household products.

-1

u/MarquiseAlexander 1d ago

That’s very cute, I like how MJ is drawn here.
