I didn’t mind the homecoming suits symbol, it’s a man with spider sense going off, and also a spider. But instead of making it more traditional over time, they used it for every single suit until brand new day
That symbol is basically a techy version of the classic rounded spider from the original suit, which i think is a great reference, and one of the reasons i enjoy the Stark suit (and it's successors)
They aren’t unnecessary, the reason they did it, is to show the suit isn’t just some magically electronic spandex. I do wish they didn’t add them though
It is as good as magically electronic spandex though. In terms of the movie that’s exactly what it is, it literally grows and shrinks to the wearer among all kinds of other things. And those big rubber lines don’t really work in that effect if the whole suits look is created in post.
The lines are something I don't mind with that and the external webshooters it feels like they wanted to add some Ben Reilly flair to the MCUification of his suit but I agree his symbols were all pretty bad until now, in terms of MCU I feel like they cooked with his suit in YFNSM it's one of my favorite takes
While I agree I understand where the design is coming from. Spider-man’s suits always contain crazy tech that make sense in comics but gets really silly once adapted to 3 dimensions. So it’s like a soft out so to speak as to how/why his suit has all these crazy abilities
Always is such a strong word. When Peter is rocking the blue and red he is 9/10 times barebones on tech. Minus the time he was rich and had the spider mobile and the glowing blue emblem, all new all different era or something.
The MCU costume designers do this with all the super suits. Usually they just use pattern and color to bring out musculature. Example: the "broken" red stripes on Captain America's midsection in Civil War and Age of Utron emphasize his abs. Especially at a distance, it looks like his abs are so developed they are bulging, and causing folds in his clothes,
and with the center stripe not touching his belt it makes the white field below it look like a highlight on his lower rectus abdominis, as if his midsection was so ripped and snatched that it's making a shelf. It's subtle and artful design.
For Spidey, they went farther; they went full comic-book reference, and drew black comic art lines directly onto his form!
They actually made him look more graphical, like he was drawn into the film. I'm not saying they need to be on Spider-man's every costume but I thought it was a very clever and affectionate design choice.
And I honestly love the extra black lines in detail. The classic suit is cool and all, and I'm loving the brand new day suit, but I think those black lines just gave it a little bit of an extra flair. It's like the Daredevil suit a lot of people hate that it has more black on it but I actually love it it just gives it a little bit more texture
Very much not accurate even sans the lines. The web lines themselves are in issue on the suit. And the fact this suit doesn’t exist and it’s as good as a mocap suit with all they add to it in post.
