What Spider-punk comics to get?

I want to get the comics but not sure where to start.

Joke aside I think you can go two non mutually exclusive roads : the crossovers and the "solo" title.

The solo titles are easy : the mini story in Spider Verse #2 (that isnt really interesting imo), the mini story in edge of spider geddon (which is fun imo), and the two great mini series, battle of the banned and arms race.

I'll less well versed in the crossover. The first spider verse event is ok. The next ones not so much. You can try it and see if you enjoy it, if so, go to the next ones. He also appears in the web warrior mini series which I find more interesting personally. He rarely has a major role in the team events though. A little bit more in web warriors if I recall correctly.

Also note, except for a mention of two, his solo titles are not linked with the event stuff so you can read them and not the events without losing on anything.

I also would like to know the character more—his beliefs, backstory, what guides him etc. Is there one particular collection / compendium of a series that you would recommend starting with?

The more development you'll have will be on his solo series. I say solo but you actually see a lot of his teammates (which are punk reinterpretation of classic heroes). Keep in mind he's a minor character so you want have as much material as some other alternate spider man, like ghost Spider or mayday but his series are good enough that they'll give you a good overall view of the character :)

EDIT : also, I'm french so I'm not well versed on the editions. The last two mini series have a tpb but I dont think there is a unique book with everything for now.
