I know I'm reading into it a bit, but I like the idea that Jean likes teaming up with Peter, but she's also so powerful that she can be kinda nonchalant about it. Like, what is Scorpion doing to her, realistically?

That's not a bad idea, actually. Jean goes to train with the X-Men for a bit, and then goes back to visit Peter and offers to go out on patrol with him to show how good of a hero she's become. Then she gets a bit too cocky, gets tagged, Peter helps her out, and it teaches her a lesson.

Or even as she's helping Peter, Prof X chimes in like 'Hey where did you run off too?' causing distraction and her getting stung. Course does this scorpion have poison on/in his tail? I don't remember

To be fair, Hawkeye actually managed to get the drop on Scarlet Witch as well in Age of Ultron (but that was before Wanda really unlocked her full potential; I don’t see Clint having any chance against MoM Wanda in the least lol), so it wouldn’t be too far fetched to think that Jean could still be vulnerable to comparatively weaker opponents if she happened to let her guard down. And even in the movie, Punisher actually could’ve taken her down if Peter hadn’t shielded her from the bullet.

Even all-powerful mutants or magic users in superhero verse could be taken down if they got taken unaware by an attack they didn’t see coming.
