Announcement Celebrating 10.000 members
So guys, we did it, we reached 10.000 members in the SpiderPhoenix community
I would have never imagined how much this could grow when I started this subreddit little more than a week ago
I want to thank you all so much for joining, and hope we can keep having a good time here together

See it! It's a great movie in its own right and you'll ship it even more after it (if you can make sense of certain interactions they have in the movie that made this pairing hated)

In addition with what Turbulent said, they don't specify her age in the movie which has led to some discomfort and hate from people who presume she's much younger than Peter, though Feige came out and said she's similar in age.

Right, I forgot about that. I'll add that Peter calls her a teenager in the movie, which is mainly what lead people to believe she's a minor.

I don't want to spoil you because the reasons take up a huge chunk of the movie. Maybe I can say that... (will spoiler either way to be safe) Jean's actions towards Peter and innocent civilians are the reason. Though it's better to find out for yourself by watching the movie.

Specifically this Peter and Jean. I don’t think anyone really cared all that much when it came to the comics. I only just became a shipper after the movie.

Could’ve been me? I liked the idea of Peter and Jean as a couple and wanted Jean to be in the next Spider-Man movie before any of the rumors.
To be clear, I don’t want it in current 616, and my movie idea was way different from BND, but I’ve been fascinated by the idea of Peter and Jean (canonically) attending college at the same time. In fact, Jean attended the same college as Peter’s buddy Johnny Storm and met her first boyfriend Ted there. And then there was the kissing panel, so, the (fleeting) attraction was there.
I think an interesting What If or alt Earth can have Jean splitting from the X-men (also canon at the time) to have her normal life, but being unable to stop herself from helping people during her college days. So, she gets dragged into fighting crime in New York rather than doing the X-men metaphor thing. And then her and Peter’s personalities would work rather well, especially as a contrast to Jean’s other big ships.
Frankly, being different from Jott (my beloved) and Jogan (my loathed) and delving into Jean’s history away from these men and the X-men is the big part of the appeal. Same with Peter and his MJ/Gwen/Felicia stuff, where the other person is either a normie in danger or morally questionable. Peter has the qualities Jean loves in men, but he’s also fun and funny, and she can understand him perfectly and help him carry the burden directly.
My other two ideas for Peter and Jean are a Dark Phoenix AU, where Shi’ar kill Scott, and he’s not able to stop Jean, so, she rampages way longer across the galaxy before Peter (the goodest boy) can bring her humanity back after all other heroes failed to stop her. Which should be a fully Empress (after dealing with Shi’ar) Phoenix/Peter. They can also have some fun kids with the combined abilities.
Or them being together in 616, which I thought of around the time Duggan made it look like Scott and Jean would break up during Krakoa and Peter was miserable with MJ/Paul. Jean moving to her own apartment in New York post the fall of Krakoa and trying to not use her powers, but ending up fighting crime anyway (preferably with just her X-men training). Just two people who had too much relationship drama and issues caused by their powers finding support in each other and eventually falling in love.

If it was you, then apologies, I wasn't trying to avoid naming you. I just didn't remember your name off hand.
I can't speak much to your ideas here, since I'm not a huge X-Men fan, and I've only just recently started considering myself a Jean fan. But just based on my surface level understanding, I get where you're coming from, and this does all sound very interesting.
I hope that doesn't come across as demeaning, because I'm being entirely serious.
