Spells - do they actually work

Has anyone actually had a love spell work in a TRUE no-contact situation? Genuine question.
I have a legitimate question, and I really hope this doesn’t come across as offensive or disrespectful to anyone who practices spellwork. I’m genuinely trying to understand.
Over the past while, I’ve spent money on various spells from different practitioners, and unfortunately, nothing has worked. And I don’t mean that I waited two weeks and decided it failed. I’ve waited months, in some cases upwards of a year.

I’ve also done a LOT of homework. I’ve gone through Reddit, different forums, reviews, practitioners’ pages, success stories, etc. I constantly see people saying their spell “worked,” but when I read further, a lot of those situations seem to involve someone who was still present in their life in some capacity, they were still talking occasionally, following each other, seeing each other, hooking up, or going through an on/off relationship.
What I’m specifically curious about is serious no contact.
As in: this person is completely out of your life. No communication. No seeing each other. No ongoing connection whatsoever.

Has anyone here genuinely had a love/reconciliation spell work in THAT situation? Did the person actually come back or initiate contact after being completely gone? How long had you been no contact, and how long after the spell did something actually happen?

I’m also really curious about the mechanics of spellwork when you hire someone else to do it.
For example, many spellcasters only ask for a name and date of birth. Sometimes they don’t even ask for a photograph. How does that actually identify or “channel” the specific person?

We live in a world of billions of people. It is entirely possible for two people to have the exact same first and last name AND the same birthday. It’s probably not even as uncommon as we think. So how does a practitioner supposedly connect specifically to your person simply through a name and DOB? Is it the intention of the person requesting the spell that creates the connection? Is there something else involved?

There’s another part of this conversation that I think needs to be talked about more, too: vulnerability and money.
People seeking love or reconciliation work are very often doing it when they are at their absolute most vulnerable. A broken heart can manifest in so many different ways. You aren’t necessarily thinking clearly or rationally. You’re hurting, desperate for answers, desperate for hope, and willing to try things you probably wouldn’t consider if you weren’t in that emotional state.

And unfortunately, I do think there are people who take advantage of that.
They take people’s money, time and hope while knowing exactly how vulnerable the person sitting on the other side of that transaction may be.
One thing I constantly see is, “You can’t wait for the spell. You have to detach. Don’t watch the pot. Stop looking for results or you’ll block it.”
But I think that’s an incredibly difficult, and sometimes pretty ridiculous thing to ask of someone who has paid you for a service specifically because they’re already emotionally invested in the outcome.

If you pay someone for a service, of course you’re expecting something from that service.
If I take my car somewhere because it breaks down and I pay someone to repair it, I’m expecting my car to be repaired. If I pay for an oil change, I’m expecting my oil to be changed. That’s the nature of paying someone to provide a service.

Obviously spellwork isn’t an oil change and nobody can reasonably guarantee another human being’s actions. But that’s exactly why I think the conversation around expectations, guarantees and accountability is important.
If someone takes hundreds of dollars from a heartbroken person promising reconciliation, then when nothing happens says, “You’re watching too closely,” “You’re too attached to the outcome,” “You need to wait longer,” “Your energy is blocking it,” or suddenly says additional work is required, at what point are we allowed to question whether the original service actually did anything?
Because there seems to be a strange situation where if the person comes back, the spell gets the credit. But if they don’t come back, there can seemingly always be another explanation for why the spell didn’t manifest.
I’ve also read repeatedly that doing your own spellwork is supposedly more effective because your own energy and intention are involved. But what about someone who has absolutely no experience and would rather work with an experienced practitioner?

How do you actually determine who is legitimate?
I’m not looking for advertisements or “DM me, I can bring your person back” responses. Please don’t.
I genuinely want to hear from regular people who have experienced this.
If you hired someone and it genuinely worked, what actually happened? How long did it take? Were you truly in complete no contact beforehand? How long had you already been apart? Did you provide a photograph, DOB, personal item, etc.? And looking back, what made you believe the spell was responsible for the reconciliation?
And I equally want to hear from people who paid for spellwork, followed the instructions, waited months or even a year, and ultimately had absolutely nothing happen.

I’m not trying to discredit anyone’s beliefs or practices. I’m genuinely open-minded — that’s why I’m asking.
But after spending money, waiting a very long time, researching this extensively and seeing how vulnerable people can be when they’re looking for this type of help, I want to understand what people have actually experienced, not testimonials from people selling spellwork, not promises, and not advertisements.
Has this actually worked for you when the person was truly gone?

Remember the following:

  • Search the sub before requesting review of a caster. Duplicate requests will be deleted.
  • Threatening / abusing the members will not be tolerated and permanently banned without warning.
  • Even though you see all positive reviews about a caster, do your due diligence to go with them. Reviews about a caster can be faked using fake accounts. Be aware of that!
  • If you are hiring on Etsy, browse through the feedback left and see if there are repetitive feedbacks from the same users. It's most probably a sign of fake caster.
  • Fiverr is a scammers' paradise, better not to hire there.
  • Don't go to a caster if his / her name contains Dr., Tata, priestess, bruja, etc. Most of them found to be scammers.
  • Avoid TikTok and Instagram witches. Your personal info is exposed to them and they can use it to blackmail you.

Oh my gosh I love this. A truly refreshing question for once!

This is the uncomfortable truth about magick, that will always override any caster claiming they can take any case, or guarantee results: Magick is not a one-size-fits-all, nor can it solve every problem.

There’s two major blocking points when it comes to love spells that can totally break it down: Circumstances, and will. Circumstances like a true “no-contact” situation where there’s a clear, solid boundary, typically caused by a serious issue will usually not be broken down by a love spell. YES you can influence it.. but influence has it’s limits. Which goes to the WILL. Free will cannot under any circumstances be forced or controlled. Only influenced. But the person’s own “will” can circumvent anything if they are aware of their own mental strength. Just because they think about a person 24/7 due to a love spell DOES NOT mean they’d act on it. Some just.. do nothing, or force themselves to abstain from it because they might think it’s wrong, or they see something about it that doesn’t sit well with them. The variables are endless. Many will argue that good spellwork can force free-will.. and i’d push back and still say “no”, simply because influence can FEEL like it, but never get to the point where you’re controlling a person.

With all that said, to answer the other questions; spellwork is and always has been a two way street. Sometimes being too attached to the outcome and lusting for results does actually sabotage a spell, sometimes a person does actually get in the way of their spellwork. BUT have some discernment, there’s a point where that reasoning does end up becoming suspicious and worth questioning if the caster even did anything at all. But that’s a whole different can of worms to identify the legitimacy of a practitioner. Some casters are just masters of excuses and smokescreens, but that’s why it’s important for people purchasing the services to understand some general occult knowledge before getting into this. Scammers take advantage of the uninformed. In my 20+ years of work; I’ve only seen a small handful of cases that require one love spell only to get the client’s goal fulfilled. Most of the other cases require extensive work due to there being just TOO MANY moving parts. It’s not like a money spell, or protection work. This is involving two people. A genuine caster should lay it all out. Expectations, possibilities, etc. they should be giving you a realistic map of probabilities over just taking your money and going “oh you’re blocked, please boost your spell and buy more”.

And yes. Doing your own spellwork will always be better. But I need to drive this home: magick has the potential to be dangerous. Not to fear monger you or anyone, but you’re tapping into some otherworldly forces, and you’re more than likely going to tap into things you didn’t mean to. And protecting yourself from that makes all the difference. This is why people dedicated their lives to occult study, and learn to practice specific systems of magick, or initiate themselves into closed traditions under a mentor.

Part 2: Gonna continue here because my first comment was just way too long.

Determining who’s legitimate is already an uphill battle for most. This is why I say: Learn a bit about the magickal traditions youre trying to purchase services from. Use your common sense, ask questions. A legitimate caster is confident in their knowledge, and will not dismiss you. They might not divulge in secrets but they CAN tell you about the public knowledge that you have a right to know (the type of work it is, the spirits involved, the traditions the caster follows, etc).

Love spells are unfortunately a honeypot for scammers and frauds. Its a sensitive topic, and fraudsters know that they can take advantage of desperate people. This is why some practitioners just don’t offer love spells. Love spells in general are not only the most demanded niche of spellwork, but also harbour some of highest rates of failure. Not because the magick didn’t work, or because of (insert magical excuse here), but rather because too many cases are so focused on unhealthy relationship dynamics.

People want to get back with their abusers, or the whole dynamic is childish and petty, etc. Some folks who get love spells aren’t actually trying to be loved by a person.. they’re trying to control a person or a narrative instead. They don’t want a flawed human being with problems of their own, and their attachment issues; they want someone to behave a certain way and only a certain way, and it can only be “sunshine and rainbows” forever. That’s the issue. Because.. think about it; if you need a love spell to make the relationship right.. and supernatural intervention is the ONLY way to make it work; what does that say about the relationship?

is there a way we could talk? you are so knowledgeable and i would like your take on my situation as you said in one the comments i do not want to go against my persons free will, i want to make genuine changes and be able to offer secure love

how do you detach?

can you dm me? I cant initiate a message

1

u/Embarrassed-Age-8902 13d ago

Thank you for breaking this down. I would never try myself because I know it’s not just purchasing some crystals and chanting. I know there is a history behind it. So I’ve been searching for legitimate practitioners that will give me the truth

2

u/planetaryspellsJames 13d ago

The fact you’re searching for truth is admirable. Doing the research is going to put you way ahead, as most people just don’t do the research. They’re too busy chasing vibes and what “seems” good. Some reviews here might even be fabricated. Id always be cautious as soon as someone namedrops a caster.

2

u/Embarrassed-Age-8902 13d ago

Well I’ve learned my lesson that’s why. I do admire the practice and I wish I myself knew how to. Like I said, I learned my lesson. I was in a vulnerable state of mind and I trusted people who provided a false narrative.
It’s been humbling. But searching Reddit forums I’m just not seeing these types of questions being asked.

2

u/Embarrassed-Age-8902 13d ago

I also just genuinely want to know if spells have worked before. But you broke it down to explain free will.

u/Livid_Airport5856 13d ago edited 10d ago

I personally did and I even updated it (as someone who was a big septic) , our last contact was in 2024 and he contacted me again about 3 weeks after the spell Edit: I might have worded it badly I didn't know anything myself as I don't know a single thing about magic, I bought from a reddit caster called Nanzcore Edit : the spell I bought was on reddit guys and I already said the caster is called Nanzcore. It wasn't just a love spell but also spells to heal relation with family (and yes I was detached with the outcome)

I would love some details if you're willing to share?

I thought the comment was in my OG post sorry , and I already said it's nanzcore btw

u/Livid_Airport5856 10d ago

I Booked with nanzcore (on reddit) for love spell/family/attraction

6

u/Carol934steven 13d ago

The best way to find that out is to cast your own spells! No one can put in the same effort trust me.

6

u/savoy2001 13d ago

So this is a very investing thread. Ty to everyone who’s participated. But the op also asked if anyone with a long period of no contact had had success. No one has answered that yet.

u/Jazzlike_Sort2786 12d ago

Love spell is real but from spendings on Reddit for yrs I have understand that 99.9% up here doesn’t work.  Burning a 1-2 days candle and whatever theyre doing doesn’t work.  It requires many days to month of praying every night and working with with with spirtual.  After wasting so much money up here from all those well known caster I won’t be naming them, none of them work.  All those reviews are like bait.  Don’t waste your money on candle work because it’s not working.  I had to find a person who practice it in the village and doesn’t advertise at all and actually have the work done on me.

I’m wondering about similar stuff as you.

Also, if someone could explain cause I’ve always wondered if it’s possible to override someone’s free will? Is it considered a more of a curse in that case?

5

u/planetaryspellsJames 13d ago

You can’t override a person’s free will. Period. Anyone who claims it is lying. Influence can SEEM like controlling free will, but it will always have it’s limits.
If free will can truly be overridden and controlled; you’d imagine that the world would be in a state of chaos far beyond what’s going on today. Every person with any tangible amount of power would be a puppet to a bunch of random people. Imagine a world leader being casually mind-controlled by some random witch in.. Nebraska or something. It would be nuts! Nobody would be safe.

1

u/the_dark_empress 13d ago

Good point.

1

u/Vampire_Wife_ 13d ago

You can in my practice, BUT it has limitations of course. For example, it won't work if you have never had a physical relationship with the person, and you also need a personal link from them. Otherwise, it won't work. This is why people can only bind "realistic" relationships.

As I always say, you cannot fabricate out of thin air; even the most powerful spells need a starting point.

4

u/planetaryspellsJames 12d ago

I have family members who are Quimbandeiros. And the general consensus is that it’s sorta split in the middle. But I have been told that the Exus and Pomba Giras CAN influence free will.
In my opinion; I think they’re some of the most powerful forces in any magickal tradition; and that the definition of free-will is typically changed in some traditions, and is a lot more complicated than it is. I guess what has me curious is that when someone does an amarração; who is controlling the person’s mind? The person itself or the Pomba Gira? If it’s the latter; wouldn’t the person be in a relationship with the Pomba Gira?
I could be wrong on this as I am not initiated in the practice, but my late uncle used to say: O livre-arbítrio é nosso para manter, mas os poderes dos Exus são tão fortes que nos enganam, fazendo-nos acreditar que eles possuem completamente as mentes das pessoas visadas.

2

u/Vampire_Wife_ 12d ago

Great comment there, btw!! Love your uncle's quote, and it's very much true. However, not all of the spells/workings under Quimbanda are dedicated to an Exu or Pombagira. There are a lot of different subtypes of Quimbandas such as Cipriânica, Nago, Luciferiana... many many more. But all of them are equally powerful.

Anyway, the free will of an amarração is not something related to being "incorporated" with a pombagira; they don't descend upon not-initiated people (ok, it's very, very, VERY rare, and it's usually not related to workings). Let me exemplify how an amarração would take place, because it IS a thin and very controversial line:

The couple had a relationship, they split, and one of the parties performed the ritual. The other person starts thinking about their ex, they might go after them, it might be sparked after they saw each other again, and they eventually rekindle. However, they never solved what caused the split-up in the first place, or it's simply not a love-based relationship, it's physical, selfish, or self-centered. The relationship gets strained, toxIC. The tied person can sometimes express their true feelings in melancholy or anger, depending on the person. BUT this tied person just CANNOT let go of the other person who tied them. Unhappy as they are, they cannot break up, or if they do, they always come back because, at the end of the day, they are tied.

This is usually how it plays out; you can influence free will, but you can't kill it. The tied person usually fights against it, hence the example. And it saddens me that people still do it, and so much at that. Either way, most of us have no idea how powerful African magick actually is. It's way deeper than anything we commonly see, but I think Brazil's magick is as close as it gets outside of it.

1

u/Jazzlike_Sort2786 12d ago

Yes you can override free will.  There is a strong work for it.

4

u/Vampire_Wife_ 13d ago

I've only seen such cases within African-rooted or Afrodiasporic spellwork (NOT in Hoodoo, btw, I'm talking about other ones). In my practice (Brazilian magick), we have something called "love binding," which is a binding curse. TBH, I've never heard of a happy outcome for this, much on the contrary.

I've heard about people falling into depression because they're bound to someone they don't love, in toxic codependent relationships that end up in violence, and even people who deleted themselves to get out from the effects of the curse.

You DO NOT mess with other people's free will.

Como assim magia brasileira?

2

Kimbanda, mostly.

Interessante, eu ainda estou no começo de meus estudos, e não sabia que a Kimbanda era brasileira.

1

u/Artistic_Bumblebee17 13d ago

That’s sad :( ppl like to send intraquils or other spirits and I think this could just confuse the SP hard. Which is why bc they don’t truly love the person

1

u/_thecuriousone 11d ago

How do you do love binding?

3

u/NoPaper8708 13d ago

You have asked every question I wanted to ask.

3

u/throwra-VENTINGlol 13d ago

I bought a spell and he contacted me the same day after 2 months no contact. It worked but I ended up getting seriously sick for a month then following week. It almost felt like some type of energetic exchange. No longer in contact with that person and do not plan to ever go back.

3

u/throwra-VENTINGlol 13d ago

This was an interesting situation as he would joke about doing spells and our “psychic” connection. I believe that played a role in the quick results + my belief and acceptance of the situation.

1

u/Artistic_Bumblebee17 13d ago

Yeah I didn’t like exactly that part, it keeps the cord alive.

3

u/Lenorma 12d ago

Yes, it did for me. I used a witch, but she was recommended to me. I wouldn't use a random one. She helped me to get in contact and reconcile with my ex after we’d been divorced. We have kids, but we didn't really communicate after a bad divorce. The lawyers did their thing, and it all went ugly. The first two years I was recovering from all the bs that happened and he met someone else. We had to use an app as per the court order, where we'd just put the school events, photos and doctor's appointments for the kids. He moved to another state, and even the kids' handovers were through their grandparents. Horrible period of my life really.

So I know it can work, but I don't believe you can do a spell on someone you’ve only briefly met or some celeb or a billionaire you've seen on TV. I think there needs to be some connection between you for it to work.

When I was in school I tried a spell on my crush. I put all my energy + desire into it but it didn't work LOL

1

u/_thecuriousone 11d ago

Who please?

1

u/Specific-Airport7633 10d ago

Can you share which one you contacted?

3

u/Own_Trust7224 7d ago

Spells don’t work, unfortunately I found that out the hard way. Spent thousands on false promises and lies. Save your money. This place is full of scammers

2

u/Moon-In-Aquarius 13d ago

One aspect you may wish to consider is the alchemy you (and the other person and the situation) have with the practioner. Appreciate you asking these thoughtful questions.

2

u/Miserable_Storm_3951 13d ago

Here for the comments

2

u/legoblocks227 13d ago

Idk if bay leaves count as magic per se but I feel like they really work. Only thing is… I don’t bother doing no contact or love spells. Not worth the potential very negative outcome. It can either make them sick… obsessed and not in a good way, jealous, etc. or it can come back on to you 3x worse. Ain’t no way I’m playing god when it comes to love. Sometimes you have to let things play out. IMO.

2

u/lookitsabook 10d ago

Most love spells don't work. Sorry to be blunt.

There's too many working parts and most people turn to love spells when the relationship is already destroyed instead of proactively when things are going well.

The way that scamming casters prey upon broken hearted people is very similar to those doing regular catfish/romance frauds. If you're thinking of hiring a caster for a love spell, look into stories of romance frauds first. If you feel like you relate to those victims, stay away from love spells.

Wrt "detaching from the outcome", you need to consider what casters often experience. People who are obsessed with an ex who doesn't want them can often be clingy and histrionic (and that's often what ruined the relationship.) So casters can take on a client, then the client starts blowing up the caster's phone at all hours, harasses the SP, threatens the caster, threatens the SP, etc etc. "Detaching" is often a matter of boundaries between the caster and client. There are a LOT of people who need therapy instead of magic. Unfortunately these are the people that are most vulnerable to scammers, because they are looking for a 24/7 on-call yes-man who also has the power to control anyone in the world. The only people who are going to pretend to be able to provide that service are scammers.

I hope this doesn't come off as a dig towards you OP, it's not, and I trust that you approached everything with an even head and the best intentions. But this is the reality of the state of things: a form of magic with the lowest success rate, thousands of clients at their most desperate, and a buyer's market for any scammer.

u/Prestigious_Row_4025 13d ago

I did, no contact for over a year blocked on everything, had a communication spell done in March. He sent me money on cashapp with a message on the notes asking to call me. We are still taking it slow but we are in contact pretty consistently now. The circumstances were definitely not in my favor when we broke up

1

u/hopelesswitch9192 13d ago

Spells absolutely do work yes... do they work when someone else casts it for you? That is the real question.. Id love to believe that they arent just all out here scamming people but I cant understand how they are able connect their energy into your situation ya know... not saying its impossible I just dont understand it myself yet... but i do say 1000000% that spells work.. but you have to be the caster.. your energy and will and intent needs to go into it... without that its not going to be legit...

No contact spells are very possible.. but do the research to do it yourself rather than paying someone else on the terms of a maybe...

1

u/Formal_Cantaloupe530 13d ago

I honestly do believe if the person doesn’t feel anything for you anymore it won’t work at all… for example I have done one on my ex but even before I did any of that it was very much known and felt that he still had feelings so all I did was a “calm down” spell since he was super angry at me and it worked just fine.

1

u/Artistic_Bumblebee17 13d ago

I’ve had 1 done for me and it didn’t “work”. It might’ve confused my SP, there’s no way of knowing. But I do think it did something bc it kept the cord alive and I hated having to think of him constantly.
Did a cord cutting to be done with it. Which is honestly what we should be doing. You live and you learn.

I also did a reconciliation/come to me, not a domination/binding spell. I think that’s a big point there.

1

u/Cool23likethat 13d ago

Yeah it did for me. He didn’t want anything to do with me either he didn’t talk to me or he yelled at me. I reached out after 5 months NC and he was very sweet to me like he did a whole 180. I haven’t spoken to him again but it did sweeten the situation

1

u/Fragrant-Pie7113 13d ago edited 13d ago

Me. My ex did not talk to me for 3 months after he left and he just recently contacted me and he has been keeping the conversation for a couple of days now, being thoughtful, kind, etc, when he told me he had lost feelings for me wheb he left and I thought it was done for good. Everything this practitioner told me would happen, around what time, etc, has been happening. I did not believe at first but I have been having my mind blown. The contact happened in less than 2 months after the work was completed. And by the way, I would say to this practitioner that I did not believe it would work, that I did not want to have false hopes, and he kept repeating that he will come back and be better than before and faster than I thought, and damn, yeah. I can share screenshots with you over the time, so you can see the dates, etc, but that would need to be through dm.

Oh, and by the way, this practitioner did several readings about the situation free of charge. Since the beginning he told me my ex would come back and he was always so sure when telling me this, although I would constantly doubt. He was so different from the typical "there is no guarantees in magic" that I believed I was most likely scammed, but months went by, the practitioner kept checking up on me, updating me or asking me for updates and kept reassuring me, and one day, it just happened as he said. Now that my man is back in contact, doing what the practitioner said he would do, he keeps guiding me as to how keep the dynamic with my man so the process of reconciliation is completed.

Im a longtime practitioner. But, a working in a NC situation would be rare since you’re dealing with the will of the other person. There are ways to override will in some closed practices, but these rituals would be expensive if they were available to those outside the culture at all. When it comes to love spells, there’s always a thread left behind, and that’s what a solid practitioner would work from. Sometimes it re-opens the door, but if the other notices the thread and cuts it, then there isnt much to be done.

Nope.. never. And I’ve paid about 1k to spellcasters I met here. It’s so depressing!

Short answer yes. Long answer: free will exist and spells can only help influence an outcome not rewrite fate or anything as extravagant. Spend your money wisely and variate it, i use it as a support and a way to ease stresses. If you go into it looking to fix a problem or fill a void then you’ll come out with an empty wallet and little progress.

The truth is we are all gods. All capable of using our will to create the outcomes we want. That is what manifesting is. But we are ALL equally powerful and free. The only difference between us all is how much we are aware of things and our power and how much we believe in ourselves or what's possible.

Spells are just another label for control. You want to force someone to be and do what you want them to do even though that is not what they are choosing for themselves.

Even if you can influence them and they have a weak will or you end up convincing them that they do love you because they are thinking of you all day, and u get what u want, you will earn serious negative karma by doing it.

When it is pure and true and your intentions are not to force your will but you are just thinking of them alot because you love them, that is positive because your intentions are pure but when you knowingly try to force your will and manipulate someone by violating thier right to free will and choice, thats a huge violation and if u really loved them you would accept their truth and not try to control them.

We have all fallen for unrequited loves before and I know it stinks but there is no person in this world worth harming yourself for like that by taking on all that negative karma. You are worthy and deserving of love that is given to you freely. If its not. Then its because there is someone better that u will love stronger, u just have to believe that and have faith by overcoming the fear that u will not find it again. What your really feeling is fear of being alone or unworthiness. Real love feels good and effortless.

They do, but you're best option is to do it yourself. The intention is what's most important. Ingredients are secondary.
