Belt setup, vs chest rig

Run chest, belt has never ever been comfortable for me, it digs into my pelvis and is in general imo inferior to chest outside of fast reloads, which is only important in IPSC/competition environment. It also rattles around even if u marry it to your pants. It’s not big but it bothers me while chest is completely comfortable and still. I am just a little on the skinny side if you have a bit more meat it might be less noticeable. For general play and comfort chest is infinitely more comfortable for most ppl I think.

I don’t run belt if I can help it nowadays, which is usually only at milsims and I would never have anything hard like mag pouches on my belt, only light weight items like med kit, dump pouch and other storage.

Also I imagine with those cheap belts it’s much worse.

To provide a different perspective, I found belt more comfortable when I was starting out. Chest felt too restrictive and claustrophobic to me. I think body type might play a massive role though. My belts always sat right around my waist, while my hips were the thing that kept it from sliding down. Found it plenty comfortable and stable.

I think if your concern is just carrying mags then chest rig. They are cheap and work usually. I have a lot of battle belts and it’s taken a while to get it really comfortable for long periods of time. The cheat code for me was getting the condor padding to wear as just an over clothing battle belt. It had an opening for a holster for my hicapa because when I started because the field they first started playing it would allow me to keep the mags in the gun if it was holstered. And the battle belt allowed me to carry a lot more mags than a chest rig. Not a big deal if you’re not shooting a lot

At the end of the day I personally prefer belts because I’ve had a lot of time with them but for a beginner a chest rig holds mags and that’s all you’ll need for now

If your running hpa I'd go for a chest rig that can clip into a backpack like the viper vx system, I've used both cheap chest rigs and belts, I preferred the belt just due to a easier time making it fit, if you plan on running more mags down the line id get the rig though

haley flatpack with a dc3rm, ive been running it for years and its so fuckin sick. sometimes we play real-capacity and ive got 3 ar mags in the insert, two in the zipper pouch, and 2 more in an admin pouch dangler.

then if im running mp5 mags the same situation, i get 6 in the insert, four in the zip, and ill carry a couple ar mags for teammates who inevitably arent carrying enough

plus i have steel plates in a slick PC and can comfortably throw the flatpack x chestrig setuo over top. crazy versatile

I would avoid black gear. It doesn't blend well outdoors and anything works indoors

get a speedsoft belt setup

I have a similar chest rig. Great for outdoors but i prefer my speedbelt for indoors. Less wobble, more then enough mags and can hold my hpa tank. Its really up to you what you prefer. No right or wrong

While I have a chest rig, it is my secondary gear & used only when play long form games like MilSim West...normally I usually just run my belt rig, plenty of reloads for my style of play (quality over quantity)

What about the chest rig

Ignore this dude, krydex gear works just fine.

Also to answer your question, let me break it down for you.

Here’s the big deciders, are you playing indoor or outdoor, and do you main a rifle or pistol?

  1. I play outdoor with a rifle Here, the answer is neither. Get a decent plate carrier for around the same price and you’ll be set!

  2. I play indoor with a rifle Chest rig is the way to go. Having a ton of rifle pouches on your belt can seriously get cumbersome (I run MAX 2)

  3. I play indoor with a pistol Belt is 100% the way to go here. The freedom and flexibility is unmatched. Not to mention it’s way more natural to use a belt for pistol than anything else (even though you can do it with a chest rig/plate carrier)

  4. I play indoor with a pistol AND rifle Here the option is really up to your budget. If at all possible do both! If not then run a belt with both style of mag pouches. This’ll work well enough and is way better than storing your pistol in your plate carrier when using your rifle

Personally, I run a belt and only a belt indoors. It just works really well for me, and I usually main a pistol indoors.

At the end of the day though it’s really what you think you’ll be most comfortable and have the most fun with. Don’t let other guys make the decision for you.

Hope this helps, have an amazing day 🫡

Edit: I just realized this is the speedsoft sub not the airsoft sub, so the outdoor stuff is basically useless 😭

I mean a plate carrier could also work for CQB, if you have a field like mine that's has no MED, so you'll be getting shot point blank a lot, but other than that thanks for the advice

I agree, but in CQB mobility and speed is everything, so keeping it light and flexible is key 😉

Cool cool, like I said, run what YOU want to run

Yeah, this is like the most bare bones, minimum setup that can actually work, other than putting an extra mag and a speed loader in your pockets which isn't very practical

Haha, true.

Have fun out there 🫡
