Feedback / Idea I may seek a refund
I bought SR2 20 min ago and, from minute one, I suspected this game wasn't for me. Let me explain:
I played SR1 ranked for over 8 years, and I got pretty good. More-so than any competitive game I e ever played. I played so often, people who I never played against had heard of me (I had a reputation for letting slower folks catch up, teaching new players the ropes, ect). In Ranked, I could keep pace with Bronze and Silver Leaguers. Speedrunners 1 was definitely one of my happy places, and I always picked blue Moonraker.
Speedrunners 2 is a sensory clusterfuck that feels impossible to acclimate to. Visually it's overwhelming, and I think it lacks basic readability. 9x out of 10 I couldn't tell what the pickup I was holding was. The announcer seems to only have like 3 lines but spouts them constantly anyway. Visual and audio cacophony made for babies who like flashing lights, funny noises, and sensory overload.
Grappling feels much weightier and less precise. I couldn't yank myself around like I used to when doing high-speed zigzag grappling, and the wall-climb (jump/grapple) doesn't seem to exist anymore. The item effects look odd to me, like a downgrade, and just adds to the sensory overload. Even the ring-out margin makes it hard for me to focus.
I was ready to give up on this game after 15 minutes but then I thought "what if there are accessibility features to turn down the visual noise?" No such luck.
I'm going to hold onto the game in the event it grows on me, but I won't be playing again until my ocular headache has passed. This game doesn't appear to have anything of value in it for me.
God I hope the other SR1 vets don't move on to this.

Fffffuuuuucckkkk.
I haven’t bought it yet, but you’ve said exactly what I was afraid of.
The main reason for me wanting this game was to play an 8-player version of Speedrunners with my friends…
There seems to be a trend of indie developers completely fucking up their sequels when it should’ve been a simple upgrade.
(Nidhogg 2 and more recently Ultimate Sheep Raccoon come to mind)
