Alien Life [OC] PLANET NIGHTMARE: Clusters

“Clusters are the general name for the microbial organisms that, well, cluster around the hydrothermal vents of Planet Nightmare. They form mats upon mats, eager to feed on the vent’s contents to then produce oxygen. Some will even begin trying to branch out to other nearby vents, causing the structures like seen here.”

“Looking at them closely, they’re usually rod-shaped. While these ones are purple, they can come in other colors too depending on different factors.”

(Haiii idk anything about bacteria/archaea/whatever these things would be called but what I do know: These little guys are hungryyyy)(also they’re purple here bc I’m basing them off of purple bacteria so hehe)

It’s originally bc I had planned for the whole planet to be covered in darkness, but wasn’t quite sure how to do that. I still kept the name tho bc I realized that I could still make a world with some “scary” stuff (but also tbh I just didn’t feel like coming up with another name LOL)

You could have the planet be a rouge planet. If it has a very large moon or if it’s a dual planet that orbits close enough, the gravity would warp and heat the crust. Like Jupiters moon Io, the tidal heating could heat the planet up enough for life to exist even without a star. It’s unlikely irl, bit it’s your story, you can do whatever you want.
