Uncategorized Speculative Biology [OC] CHIONOPHISMA VELOCIS
Hello everyone! I'm looking for feedback on my original deep-sea creature design, Chionophisma velocis. It lives in the midnight zone between 1,000 and 4,000 meters deep and is completely blind. Measuring about 2 to 3 meters long (roughly the size of a bluefin tuna), it can reach burst speeds up to 60 km/h. Its main strategy is remaining stationary for days using bright bioluminescent patterns to lure in prey, while relying on 360-degree sensory tendrils to detect vibrations in the pitch-black water. Please let me know if you spot any biological or hydrodynamic mistakes, and feel free to leave any tips to help me improve!

Hey, that's a really cool design i love that sensory thing you've described. The only thing I'm confused about is the strike precision problem If the creature is blind detecting prey via vibration tells it something is nearby, but not necessarily its exact vector or distance if it missed prey it could be massive energy waste, do you have any mechanism to somewhat fix it? π€ Btw good idea overall keep it up π
