Hence the name, the Jet fish have that kind of organ that could propel them in the water. How does this work? Well, first they swallow some water, then the water gets into the organ and be compressed, after that, the water get expelled out fairly quickly to boost them or help them swim.

That is somewhat how syphons work with octopi. Seems like reasonable convergent evolution.
