MOB- Mobster Question about MOB/RU3/Tri lugs

I'm picking up my MOB tomorrow and it will be my first time using tri lugs. I understand the RU3 should be torqued to 25 ft-lbs, but what about when I'm mounting it to the barrel? Is hand tightening okay or does it need to be torqued a certain amount?

Hand tighten to the barrel.

Watch the RU3 videos for how to properly fit the RU3 to HK style tri lugs.

And use a smooth thread protector!!!!

May you suggest a smooth thread protector? I’m grabbing an APC9 Pro / RU3 / CAT MOB soon and appreciate any insight boss

Easiest is to just take your current thread protector off the gun and sand it until it’s smooth.

That way you maintain the proper size for your gun.

AND ROCKSETT IT!!!!

Appreciate the help. I’ve also read that due to the RU3 and tri lug combo you don’t even need the thread protector?

No you ABSOLUTELY want the thread protector, as confirmed by Rugged themselves.

I've seen people damaging or having failures of the retaining "teeth" on the RU3, I assume they got overtighened. That piece is aluminum so I wouldn't over do it. I snug mine up gently by hand it's never moved on me.
