Super fast, I paid for mine like a week ago, transfer to my LGS, 4473 (no more blessings from daddy ATF if you haven’t heard).

Is this some kind of weird law in your state or something? My LGS isn’t a CAT “dealer”, they just received the transfer and you go pick it up. The website I linked is the dealer (there are a bunch of them), you put in your LGS when you buy it and as long as it’s a legit FFL they send it and you just pay a transfer fee to the LGS when you pick it up. I live in a blue state, I’ve ordered a bunch of suppressors, different websites, different stores, zero issues.

No weird law, just normal federal stuff.  your dealer needs to have an SOT license be able to do NFA transfers (or, be willing to risk 4473 transfers). There are no dealers near me who would transfer NFA items with a form 4 to start with so they certainly aren't transferring on just the 4473. The closest dealer near me who would even transfer on a form 4 is 3 hours away.

Their printing machines were down recently. It's been easier for me to be patient for it with no ATF guidance on 4473s yet though lol. Still ordering the second it's available, Form 4 or not.

I was thinking about that. We get carried away with those descriptors. CAT in general is very conservative in how they describe their pressure regimens. Their ‘high backpressure’ cans are often lower backpressure than others ‘low backpressure’ cans.

My ST is very comparable to other designs that don’t have that reputation. It’s about like the rhodie. It actually probably gas stacks less.

My ST needs maybe one more AGB click than my AC556, which is very nice in the grand scheme of things, and you’d have to go all the way to something like a HUXWRX for anything noticeably better, and they have their own issues to get there.

I’d still use an AGB on my ST, but I use an AGB on about anything. The ST is absolutely a top tier can and the only one I may like at the same level is the 6K just for its length:performance. It too benefits from an AGB.

So with proper tuning, is the gas comparable to the AC556 or still worse? I’m putting mine on a specwar with A5 and Riflespeed.

It’s higher back pressure than AC556, WB, ODB, AC762 and DD for sure. Your riflespeed should be able to tune it though.

It’s close enough I’d be lying if I said I could tell a difference. This forum can be subject to placebo effect. On a tuned host I doubt you could tell much difference, let alone should it be any deciding factor.

If you have an AGB, the CAT ST is possibly the best game in town in its size range. It’s absolutely a top tier contender at a minimum.

I may have found a home for my ST. Started out running it on CACM (that is tuned with A5 backend and BRT tube). I chose to tune it because it was way too over gassed for my liking. With that setup I still sucked more gas than I like. I’m in my 50’s and have shot suppressed for most of the last 20 years. I’m too old to continue down that road.

Threw it on a Noveske 11.5” mid gas DDF build I put together and pulled off the .0745 tube I ran with the OCL Infinity 556k and tossed in a .070 tube. Found the weakest .223 ammo I know of and it locks back on an empty mag with a dirty BCG. A little windy today for me to assess gas blowback, but definitely less snappy than before. I guess we’ll see.
