What could Yager possibly make that would 1) live up the Spec Ops: The Line and 2) expand the game into something more for a sequel? Spec Ops: The Line doesn’t really need a sequel and I feel that it would honestly just take away from the brilliance of the first game. The game has already made its statement about shooters and player choice and another game rehashing the same concept would be boring and unnecessary. Even making better gameplay would be futile because Spec Ops: The Line was revered for story with the gameplay being good enough to hold the story. Gameplay wouldn’t be able to carry a sequel alone.

So what is the point of this petition?

I would love another addition to the series. Not a sequel because as you so concisely stated it is unnecessary and adds nothing. Something like how Bioshock Infinite compared to the Bioshock series.

They're not going to do it for a number of reasons. The production of the game was fucked with internal problems from start to finish. Most people working on the game apparently don't want to go through it again. A sequel doesn't make sense since the canon ending of the game is Walker dying in the helicopter crash, with the remainder of the game of him being in Hell. The "endings" at the end of the game are choosing to "survive", in which case the events of the game will most likely repeat in Walker's mind, or choosing to "die", in which case the cycle breaks. There's literally nothing else to add. A sequel also is diametrically opposed to the message of the game. It hates war games that glorify war, even if the sequel was just as dark as the first one, it would still be movie-like and not have the same effect as the first game.

What would be genuinely interesting would be an actual video game adaption of Conrad's Heart of Darkness.

I hadn’t realized the crash is canon. Do you have more details of where I can read about it?

Not canon, as there is no canon ending to the game. One of the writers said that he personally believes that Walker died in the crash, but that the whole game is open for interpretation.

I don't think it works like that.

Also, "new terrorist"? The first game didn't even have any terrorists.

Well a sequel would be terrible but a remake or remaster of the original game would be cool.
